Hardened steel shims ensure precise fit and correct alignment of flash suppressors, muzzle brakes, and compensators. Large (thick) shim allows 90° of rotation and can be used as a spacer for barrels not having a relief cut behind the threads. Medium shims add approximately 45° of rotation. Small shims used with large and medium shims provide smaller degrees of rotation for finely-tuned, critical alignment.

Needs a second small shim(25/04/2013)
This is a good shim kit that allowed me to put my JP Howitzer muzzle brake on my Encore, and it looks really good. However, I'm glad that I bought two of the kits (I planned to use the second on another barrel), as I needed two of the smallest shims. The kit comes with one large, a bunch of medium, and one small shim. After going through every possible combination and coming really close, I finally took a medium off and grabbed the small shim from the second kit and installed it. Perfect alignment. For that reason, I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. If there were two small shims, this would be a 5 star kit in my opinion.
Allowed proper position with crushwasher(01/02/2014)
This shim set allowed for the correct timing (positioning)and tensioning of a A2 FS on my precison rifle using a crush washer.
Inexpensive, answer to 'clocking' brakes(10/01/2015)
Replaced a factory attached brake with an aftermarket counterpart (M11 American Defense). Had a nice selection of sizes, but could have used one or two additional wafer-thin pieces.
The ID was perfect for the threads; the OD was very close to the barrel spec OD. There was however a tiny bit of OD size difference between the thin shims and the main 'spacer' style shim which made installation a bit touchy to get it symmetrical.
The set placed me just short of ideal, requiring me to 'plane' the main spacer (120 grit on plate glass) to shave off enough material to get an exact line-up at 12 o'clock. Simple, but a bit time consuming. The shims are bright steel, so they are quite noticeable, but, actually attractive as they set-off the brake.
