Retains Reverse Plug & Spring On Guide Rod During Field Stripping
Handy steel clip slips over a full-length guide rod and securely retains the reverse plug and spring when field stripping a 1911. Acts like a “third hand” to keep the spring and plug on the rod while you remove or install the slide. Eliminates the need for improvised tools like small nails or paper clips that can fall out and cause a safety hazard by unexpectedly launching the spring, plug, or rod across the shop.
SPECS: Steel, approx. 21⁄8" (5.4cm) long.

Works well, though I have so many small hex wenches and small diameter wire accumulated on my bench over the past 32 years. Bought this out of interest alone and it is well designed and seems strong so I can't say anything negative for a simple tool.
Reverse Plug Retention Clip - Review(21/07/2016)
I bought this because cleaning my Wilson Combat Officer's model 1911 with a Reverse slide plug was a pain - the 'homemade pin' kept falling out. This part is a good concept, but required modification to work. 1st: the 'short' clip was still too long for an Officer's model I cut it and then re bent the end to work. 2nd: the original 'bend' length was way too short to function - at all. 3rd. The 'circle' diameter was too large for the slide rod. I bent it to a closer match. Once these 'mods' were done, the clip works well. It might work better on a Commander or full size 1911; but I strongly suspect the 'pin end' will need to be re bent for a longer length.
