Great Reliable Magazine(16/07/2009)
Probably the best 1911 magazines out there. Works flawless in my Kimber. Never heard anything except great reviews on this magazine. Stock up on 47D's!
Simply the Best!(31/07/2009)
Because your 1911 style pistol is only as reliable as its magazine, there's only one name you need to know: Wilson Combat. These are the very best magazines I have ever encountered, and I've been a shooter and 1911 fan for thirty years!
Although I have a couple other models of Wilson's magazines, I use the Model 47D the most. These eight-round mags are brilliantly engineered and crafted, they are beautifully made and solid, they function with flawless precision, and they disassemble easily for cleaning and inspection. The 47D is everything a mag must be, and more.
These mags, just like everything else Wilson offers, are made by people who truly know the 1911 pistol and who will never tolerate anything less than sustained superiority. I expect the very best, and Wilson comes through every time. Do yourself a favor and stock up on these great mags.
Best 1911 Mags!(24/10/2009)
These load easy, mag changes go smooth, very durable, work well in hot and cold climates and easy to clean!
The Best!!!(01/11/2009)
This is the only magazine that my Kimber likes-- and I'm including the factory mags in that assessment. Rebuild kits are cheap when they wear out. Get it!
Best 8 rounder on the market(08/11/2009)
Works 100% in numerous 1911s that I have tried. Much better than factory mags (many of which copy the Wilson).
Always drop free. No worries about rust. Don't seem to take a set even when loaded for long periods of time. The small slam pad is great and unobtrusive (unlike many of the add on pads).
The only mags I use in my carry gun (Gunsite 1911) i.e. trust my life to. Hard to say much more than that.
Most trusted!(09/11/2009)
Excellent value, and the most trusted in my opinion! I have several of this particular magazine, and I have never had a problem in over 2,000 rounds with any of them! You can't go wrong with Wilson Combat!
Best Magazines...period(09/04/2010)
These are the ONLY magazines I use in my Kimber. They work great, never fail, and are very durable. In the realm of 1911 magazines, you get what you pay for. These magazines might cost a bit more, but worth EVERY penny.
Best magazine I own(10/04/2010)
I have tried cheaper and more expensive magazines, but none have worked as well. I use them in an old 1944 made Remington Rand. They worked so much better than any others that I have, I bought Wilson Combat springs and followers to put them in my other mags. What a big difference.
Wilson Mags-Best Life Insurance(10/04/2010)
Wilson mags for a 1911 format pistol are without a doubt the best of the best. As most people know, the magazine is the weakest link in reliability of an automatic pistol. Wilson products will leave your mind at ease. They function perfectly each and every time. Yes, they are priced a little higher than most aftermarket magazines, but just how much is your life worth when the dark hour comes????
Your will run better with these mags.(12/04/2010)
Great mags! Can't beat them. I haven't tried every mag on the market but have tried enough to know that you'd be hard pressed to find a better performing mag at any price. I have tens of thousands of rounds through mine and they've been dropped in mud, sand, gravel, water and concrete with no ill effects. Clean up is easy with the removable base. I haven't even had to replace a follower yet which surprises me because of how dirty they have gotten between cleanings.
Great product(20/07/2010)
Just got one to try it went to the range shot 100 rounds through it with some really cheap ammo not 1 problem awesome magazine will definitely order more of these. Was using the cheapest Wilson combat mags about every 3rd round would have a missfeed so the 47d is a bit pricey but worth it
Great Mags(20/11/2010)
Easy to load, easy to clean, and feeds well. Zero problems so far. I own 3 of these mags and so far all 3 perform the same way. Wilson Combat also provides cleaning instructions with the mags and on their website.
love em(13/03/2011)
best mags ever..make loading a breeze especialy in match shooting were speed counts. Im selling all my other mags and ordering more WC for my springfield.
Absolutely the best mags for the 1911(21/05/2011)
I tried one of these to correct problems feeding the top round in my Taurus PT1911; not only does it feed flawlessly, these mags will feed empty cases. I leave the factory mags (and a few others that I'd tried) in the closet and only use the 47Ds now.
These mags are like ferrets: yeah you can just get one, but it's much better to have three or four.
Simply the best(16/07/2011)
Simply awesome, i would buy more if i had more money
The best 1911 mag available(27/09/2011)
I have used many different brands of magazines in IDPA competition, firing thousands of rounds and ejecting these mags from slide lock onto concrete. The basepads are a little dinged up, but they are the most reliable mags available, bar none! Keep them clean, and they will never fail!
One of the best mags ever -(14/02/2012)
I use this magazine for carry and competition. They are well made and resistant to sweat, mud, sand and just about anything else I have subjected them too.
They function flawlessly in my Kimber and are the only magazines I have ever used with it. They are designed from the start around 8 rounds and are not modified to accept over 7. The follower moves smoothly throughout the entire feeding cycle. While made of plastic, they do not seem to wear at all, even after many loadings.
The only downside to the 8 round magazine is they extend beyond the bottom of the mag well a little. This has never meant anything to me, but of you are into deep concealment, this may be something to consider.
Wilson's Best for Browning's Best(21/06/2012)
I have 2 SA 1911A1's, both of which came with the standard, expendable GI-type mag. Made cheap, fast, and in large quantity, they met the military need from 1911 through 1985. But Wilson's #47's go that one extra step in all areas. Easy to clean, superior materials, vastly improved follower, slide easily and fit tightly into the magwell, I am far more satisfied with the Wilson #47 and highly recommend them to those who love and shoot the venerable 100 year old Colt 45.
The Best...PERIOD(22/12/2012)
I have over a dozen Wilson 1911 mags and the #47D's are the best barenone. None of the others are as smooth and I've never had a malfunction. I have had malfunctions with the more expensive Wilson Tactical all black mags using the same ammo, however. This is one example of the cheaper priced item is superior.
very nice!(25/09/2014)
Very well made. Haven't shot with it yet. Only concern was that cartridges rattle a little bit inside the magazine which may be troublesome for concealed carry... Or not. Probably gonna order another one because they're pretty nice for the price.
EXCELLENT(23/08/2015)
I have never had a problem with these magazines. Im pretty sure I goofed and installed the spring backwards/upside down and the thing still ran perfectly until I took the mag apart and cleaned it 500 rnds later. Other mags have caused FTF/3 point jams in my caspian/SA. Not these. Always perfect feeding, even when sand gets in the tube. Cant say enough good things about these. Ive been hearing the springs are weak...but thousands of rounds through 2 pistols later I havent had any problems.
Fixed my Remington 1911 (16/12/2015)
I bought a Remington 1911 a couple of years back and I only shot it a couple of times. Recently the wife and I have been going to range more often. I found it to be strange that her M&P 9M would never jam and the 1911 would jam at least twice per a box of 50 shells. It was as if the 1911 would try to feed two rounds at once. One in the barrel then a second behind it. A friend told me to try the Wilson mags to see if that would help. I just got back from the range and shoot 200 rounds jam free!
I'm no gun smith but it appears all is well now. Thanks Wilson Combat and Brownells!
Wilson/Rogers magazines(29/04/2017)
The best!
Great mag if it will seat in your gun(11/12/2017)
Bought 2 of these on sale. They seat and run flawlessly in all my guns except the commander sized Smith & Wesson E Series Round Butt. Bumper pad and mag well on the Smith do not get along. All my other mags with bumper pads will seat in the Smith. Other than that great mag and Brownells usually has them at a great price.
Perfect for the PM7(03/04/2018)
As soon as these arrived by mail I went straight to the range. I was excited to see how they worked. First I loaded rounds in it to see how difficult or easy it would be. Pretty smooth spring. I noticed the end plate was easy to remove by just pressing into the dot and sliding it out. The mag uses a plastic follower which I liked over my standard DW mags. No cuts on my fingers. And seats the bullets quite nicely.
Then I shot through all of the rounds to see if the slide would stay locked after. Worked great. I had no problems shooting through all the rounds. I had no functional problems or even any problems with the last bullet. These magazines are dope. I like the ETM a little better tho.
Ultimate reliability(18/07/2018)
I occasionally shoot Single Stack with USPSA and carry daily, and I absolutely love these magazines. Never fail, easy to clean, and they have survived repeated drops in the dirt and on concrete. They are easy to load, and I have not noticed any spring set or feed lip damage. The slim basepad that come on these is also incredibly helpful when carrying concealed, and always fits any magwell-equipped pistol you throw them into. I have spent full price on these, and they are worth EVERY penny, so enjoy Brownell's awesome sale price. No failures, errors, or headaches after many thousands of rounds, not to mention the dozens of shooters I run into that have ran these magazines for decades without fail. On second thought, don't buy them. Leave more for me!
Legendary mags(17/08/2018)
Their reputation is well deserved. At the price brownells has them you cant beat the deal. These and the Wilson ETM's are all i buy now. In about 600 rounds through these mags ive only had 1 malfunction and it was due to a faulty primer sealant on a golden saber. Top shelf stuff here.
You can bet your life on them!(11/11/2009)
I have carried a firearm for many years and the only magazines I have ever used are Wilsons. There is never a doubt about their quality. Dependability should be their real name.
Peerless in customer service(09/04/2010)
I've used them for law enfocement and military service for over 20 years. If they go bad, Wilson fixes them for free. Did I mentioned, they WORK.
Best 1911 mag(23/09/2011)
The Wilson 7rd mag is the best magazine on the market. If you need the absolute best 1911 magazine that you would bet your life on this is it!
Outstanding quality(12/05/2016)
I purchased six of these magazines in 1985. As a competitive shooter, I have used these mags in my Gold Cup in all kinds of weather conditions. I've done reloads in the rain, ejecting these mags in the mud, dirt and sand. They are a snap to disassemble and thoroughly clean. Mine are still going strong after 30 years, without having to replace any parts. How's that for quality and durability.
Not impressed with Wilson Combat mag.(11/01/2010)
I purchased one of these magazines several years ago. Right out of the package, the spring did not have enough force to move the slide stop after the last round was fired. Some time later, the plastic follower developed a crack. For me, Chip McCormick magazines are the way to go.
Perfect Mags(06/03/2010)
I have tried many 1911 mags over the years from cheap to expensive and seemingly of all types and I have found that the only brand I can reliably put trust in is Wilson. Love the look of the black ones as well, though some with the aluminum base pad may not fit the integral magwell of the Caspian race ready frames. Works perfectly in all of my others though. Just wish they made a 10mm mag.
Works Well with a Colt Series 80(09/03/2010)
I have a set of three for a Colt Series 80 Gold Cup. I use them to compliment my true Colt magazines. Unlike the other review I have not experienced the same lock back problems he has. This is certainly not to discount his comments to what he experienced. I have noticed they take a little more force to seat them than my Colt magazines do, but I do like the integrated butt pad, which is why I use them. He prefers the Chip McCormick magazines and as a police firearms instructor I would recommend either one of these two brands.
Great Mags(02/05/2010)
I have used these for some time now. These are the most reliable and smoothest functioning magazines I have ever used in my 1911. Finish and fit are second to none. I've never had a failure to feed or a failure to lock back with these mags. The removable base makes these easy to clean.
Great magazines, but they don't fit all(29/11/2010)
I have over a dozen 1911's. Wilson Combat magazines function very well without malfunctions. The only problem is that this particular model does not fit my Les Baer TRS. The profile of the front of the magazine base is too big to fit into the stock the magazine well and therefore it does not lock properly into place. So it's more of a custom 1911 thing, since this mag fits & functions in all of my other 1911's.
Excellent(10/02/2011)
First extra mags for my 1911 were these.Good strong springs that resist a set.
Great mags(12/05/2012)
Feed perfect in my S&W 1911s E Series. Ordered 3 then ordered 3 more. Great product.
Best 1911 mags on the market(03/08/2015)
These in my opinion are the best you can buy. The standard button plate works good with a magazine well, they load and function flawlessly. The only downside I can see is that black finish is somewhat glossy, but that's relatively minor.
The Best(28/01/2010)
Wilson Mags are the Best. They function flawlessly
Best Available(11/04/2010)
These are the best mags on the market. They function and I have never had a problem with any Wilson Combat mag.
Not for M1911 Colt Series 70(02/04/2015)
The magazine did not fit my M1911 Colt series 70. It entered magazine well a couple of inches and then no more.
Troublesome product(28/09/2015)
I ordered two (2) of these and both refused to accept more than four (4) rounds due to the follower binding. I had to disassemble and polish the inside of the magazine body and the follower. I do not like to sound this critical but I have never bought a magazine and had to do this let alone do anything to get a magazine function properly.
I am greatly disappointed.
Follower sticks(25/10/2015)
I have both black and silver of these magazines and they are by far the best 1911 magazines out there. That said I agree with the previous reviewer with regards to the BLACK magazines only. What ever the coating is that they use to make them black causes the follower to stick really bad making it very difficult to get the last few rounds in. The inside of the mag had to be polished which is very difficult.
