Don't wast your money(16/02/2012)
Got this item in the mail today and it doesn't fit. Some items need a little fitting, however, this one needs a lot. Not worth the trouble.
-all 1911 safeties need fitting!(08/05/2012)
the better and stronger the safety is, the more fitting they usually require. Find a gunsmith, dude from Colorado!
DON'T buy this!(05/06/2013)
You think by spending extra for a name would make things go better right? Mercedes over Fiat is always better right? Not in this case. I can see the lawyers making them put extra material where the safety engages the sear but why in Gods name did they put extra material over ALL the internal surfaces? If you buy this be prepared to remove 1/32" off every surface and reshape the contour. The instructions are a joke as well, the one illustration is so poorly drawn a novice would not be able to understand what parts were being shown. I am a mechanical engineers who has made thousands of mechanical drawings in my career and what they give you is an insult.
Great Safety if you know what youre doin(14/11/2013)
It is a nice safety, took a little more fitting than I was expecting but it works now and thats all you can expect, right?
Don't Buy this(17/04/2015)
This safety is extremely difficult to fit.
The sear blocking pin has extra material ALL the way around it.
Your have to remove a 16th inch of material just to get the safety
into the gun. You then have to remove material from the back of the safety block to get the safety to move to the off position. If you don't do this first you will ruin the safety when you try to fit the sear to safety block fit.
Tried to fit it, no good(14/12/2016)
Tried to fit it, would not work without extreme alterations. First time ever I have been let down by Wilson.
Don't buy it, my recommendation, and if you do, don't complain, myself & others have had their say
Happy customer(30/03/2010)
The Ambi safety operates great and looks great on my Rock Island 1911. Parts showed up quick and the position selection is rock solid. No instruction sent by manufacturer but that's why we have Youtube... right? Had a bit of a problem at first with the Beavertail also purchased here. But after a bit more file work all went together well.
Best Ambi safety I ever used for IPSC(02/05/2011)
This one clears the edge of your gripping hands right or left hand users. The edges are smoothed out for comfort. Aesthetically better than any ambi I ever encountered both the blued and the SS.
Very Nice!!(16/08/2011)
I just installed this safety on my new Springfield Range Officer. I used the stock safety to figure out where to file to fit the WC ambi model, and actually got it stuck. Once I realized the correct angle to file, it dropped in perfectly! This thumb safety is butter smooth, and works equally well from either side. The only negative is that the wide left side lever does sometimes touch the knuckle on my left hand(I'm left handed) I'm taking it to the range to try it out, but I think it'll work great!
doesn't fit well nor work well(19/12/2011)
I installed this into my Charles Daly 1911. The left side isn't bad; I did have to file slightly where the spring/plunger meets. The right side did not fit well at all. The lever is actually narrower then the other side - which isn't good for me being lefty! The safety needs more travel then the stock one did before it activates. I had to file fit the heck out of this to allow it to go high enough to really hold, otherwise a decent pull of the trigger would cause the safety to move on its own and the gun fired.I think very highly of the company, but this product is the worst [$] I've spent in a long time.
An attractive & viable ambi 1911 safety(26/12/2011)
I just fitted one of these up and it works great. The two sides are mated to each other with the standard tongue-in-groove setup that is common with many ambidextrous 1911 safeties. The paddles are wide, but can be recontoured to a lower profile as desired.
Remember that all 1911 parts potentially require fitting. This is the nature of the platform and not the fault of the aftermarket parts manufacturer. This part fits up nice, looks good, and works as advertised.
Works as it should(14/04/2014)
I put this safety in an STI Spartan V 9mm for single stack steel. Took about an hour of careful fitting. There is a lot of material to work with. It shaped well, fits tight, snaps on and off with a nice "click".
