A Few Problems- Otherwise Nice(31/03/2012)
I installed this kit on my Colt 1911 series 80. This kit is not for the timid. I had difficulty installing the hammer strut pin without a press. The bottom of the firing pin stop needed some minor filing due to interference. The top of the hammer needed to be filed to allow slide clearance. After the job was done (relatively easy) the trigger was AWESOME!
Perfect . . . that is all I can say.(18/07/2012)
I installed this in a remington R1 and the quality is something else. Clean, well finished and just plain pretty. The only down side was staking the hammer strut pin because the hammer is hardened. The fit is a press fit, but use a colt factory pin and make sure to press it from the side that it will start in. The hole is larger on one side. Then stake the pin and you are set. I think one hole is smaller to prevent the pin from walking to the side with the firing pin block controls as this may destroy the frame. I just wish Brownells carried the spur hammer set.
Kit installed in PT1911(06/09/2012)
I installed this kit in my Taurus 1911. The installation was easy, for anyone familiar with the 1911. Parts are prefitted, and as such, all you do is lube and install. The thumb safety needed to be refit to the new sear. Now this old 1911 feels like an entirely new gun. The trigger pull is crisp, the reset is audible, and the hammer looks and feels really nice.
EXCELLENT kit!(31/05/2014)
Got a brand new Kimber Stainless Pro Carry II, very nice gun. It had about a 5 1/4 lb. trigger pull with just a little creep, still a pretty good out of the box trigger pull. I wanted a trigger pull that would cleanly break at 4 lbs. and bought this kit. It is VERY easy to install. The quality of the parts is plainly evident.. After I put in the parts and weighed the trigger, it would lift 3 3/4 lbs. but not 4 lbs. Tweaking the middle leg of the sear spring in towards the trigger a little bit gave me the 4 lbs. pull I was looking for. Crisp, clean and no over travel, just like John Browning wanted!
High quality superior product(20/08/2018)
Used this on my Commander build and it was worth every cent. Combined with a Wilson's Bulletproof strut and pin, I got a flawless trigger pull with minimal fitting. Minor polishing of the sides of the hammer and the disconnecter were all that was needed. With a slight touchup to the thumb safety for the sear contact, it was basically a drop in affair. Trigger pull is light and crisp at a little over 4 pounds. If you're doing a quality rebuild for carry, this is the ticket.
Excellent upgrade for a Springfield 1911(13/05/2012)
I was very dissatisfied with the stock fire group on my Springfield Mil-Spec. After doing a bit of shopping around, I settled on the C&S duty group because the hammer is compatible with the stock grip safety. The kit was 100% drop-in, and the finish and fit were 1000% better than stock. The trigger let-off is now clean, light, and positive.
The stock thumb safety on the Springer Mil-Spec has slightly more material ground off of it than I like, but it functions perfectly with the C&S kit. I'm still going to replace it.
The mainspring provided with the kit may be more powerful than you need. The kit works fine with the stock Springer ILS, mainspring, and housing.
Note that the kit does not come with a trigger strut. You may wish to purchase a trigger strut so that you can save the stock trigger/strut.
Also, note that the pin that holds the strut in the trigger should be staked at both ends, as per Kuhnhausen.
In any case, the kit is beautifully machined, and drops right in on the Mil-Spec.
Fantastic Trigger Quality(15/08/2012)
I installed the 4.5 Carry trigger set in a LAR Grizzly 45 Win Mag as this is the only trigger set that includes the spur hammer. The original trigger was like pulling through sand and pull exceeded 7lbs. Obaining any practical accuracy was next to impossible.
The spur hammer was nicely blued on top leaving the sides polished. The trigger set installed easily, but my safety needed some filing on the triangle point. There seems to be a bit more material on the C&S sear where it contacts the safety. I am sure this is intentional for safety's sake. It took three passes of the file until the safety would drop in, and then some very fine passes until the safety would smoothly engage completely. Remember, this was not a std 1911 clone, your milage may vary. Finished trigger pull was about 4lbs with a fine crisp let-off. I later installed an 18lb mainspring that further reduced the pull to about 3.5lbs. The C&S trigger sets are a phenomenal value.
Great Kit(22/01/2014)
Got this as an upgrade to my Springfield 1911 Mil Spec. Quality parts that fit perfectly into the gun. Only thing I couldn't use was the hammer spring due to Springfield's ILS, the spring is too long to work (hence the 4 stars). Everything is quality construction and neatly polished. Easy to install and greatly improved the trigger pull of the gun.
Perfect Fit(15/04/2014)
This kit was a true drop in a Springfield Mil-Spec. No fitting was required. In fact the parts fit better than the factory parts. Also use the C&S hammer strut and C&S pin set. Added a 10-8 flat trigger which does require fitting( very easy to do) feels like a whole different gun now.
Great kit for the money(10/05/2013)
Installs easily and works awesome! Makes the trigger smooth and light!
Ultra Light Speed II is the Right Kit(10/11/2015)
I used this kit in a friends Colt Gold Cup which I converted from an 80 series to a 70 series which had a terrible trigger pull. This kit was easy to install and yielded a trigger pull of 3.141 pounds in a ten pull average. The parts were very smooth and required no further preparation right out of the package. The hammer looks and feels great. I intend to use this same kit on several of my 1911's.
Awsome (15/12/2015)
Put in pt1911. Was easy I had to get a new hammer strut becouse of the hammer lock on Taurus 7$ fix.
This kit is Awesome!(23/01/2017)
I put this kit into an old Colt 1911 that I use for NRA Bullseye competition. It reduced the trigger pull from slightly less than 5 lbs. down to 3 1/2 lbs. without any adjustment. I then stoned a relief angle on the sear and polished all the contact surfaces of the parts. That additional work brought the trigger pull down to 3 lbs. 3 ozs. for a 10 pull average. Perfect for my needs in a competition pistol. The trigger breaks clean and crisp. I just wish I had done this sooner.
I installed this kit in my RIA Ultra FS 9mm. This was my first experience working on a 1911 so I watch a number of different YouTube videos before and during the install including the video on this website. As it turned out this was a direct drop-in for my particular 1911. The only problem I had with the installation was my fault. My particular pistol with the ambi safety requires the slotted end of the sear pin to poke out of the right side of the frame. I got it backwards the first time and had to disassemble and reassemble two times. The end result was a 2 pound reduction in trigger pull and a clean break with no perceivable creep.
Great cure for hammer- follow(15/10/2009)
I have a used Taurus PT1911 that had a bad hammer-follow problem. The manufacturer said nothing was wrong. When I got the pistol back from the shop I installed the Cylinder & Slide Professional 5lb. Trigger Kit and the pistol functions like a dream now. Bill Laughridge and his company have an outstanding product!
Nice Upgrade - Some Fitting Required(18/01/2011)
I installed the C & S Tactical II Trigger Pull Kit on a Springfield Armory "Loaded". The quality and value are very good, although some fitting was required: The thumb safety, and using a Dremel to remove material from the cavity of the beavertail so the hammer wouldn't snag and catch when cocked back.
Awesome Product!!!!!!!!!!!(06/10/2011)
This is a great product. I put it in my Springfield Armory GI. Dropped in with no problems and passed all the safety checks. I went from a horrible six pound trigger pull to a 3lb 15oz trigger pull. I will use this product on my next 1911 to.
Very nice kit(28/07/2012)
Very nice trigger after installation. Well worth the money. I'll be getting a few more of these.
Good parts but fitting is required.(15/01/2014)
The kit installed and improved the trigger pull of my Series 70 Colt. This was the first time I disassembled the frame. I would suggest installing an new after market grip safety as the stock Colt grip safety prevented the new hammer from going to the fully cocked position. I had to grind the stock grip safety to make things work and to successfully re-install the thumb safety. All safety checks passed and the trigger pull was sweet.
Good parts but fitting is required.(15/01/2014)
Internally, I did not have to do any fitting for my Colt Series 70. However, I had to shave the top of the stock grip safety to allow the new hammer to go to the fully cocked position. Once that was done, installation was easy for a first timer. I would suggest buying a replacement grip safety along with this kit. These aftermarket grip safeties have a groove machined in them to allow the new hammer to be fully cocked. With this kit installed, the trigger pull was just what I wanted and improved accuracy substantially.
Drop in for RIA Tactical(08/03/2014)
The original trigger on my RIA tactical was 15lb pull. This kit dropped right in and worked as advertised. No creep, very crisp 4lb pull. Along with the NM barrel I have installed, this gun outperforms most of the more expensive models on the market today for a lot less money.
recheck drop-in(25/03/2014)
The pin hole for the hammer strut was too small. Maybe a gunsmith could install this, but I could not. Not quite drop-in fit.
minor fitting is required(22/05/2014)
The tools needed are a punch, a file, roll pin holder and a hammer. The safety will need fitting if it doesn't drop in on its own. Go very slow with only a few passes then check for fit. IT WON'T NEED MUCH . Remember you can't put metal back once its gone. Use the punch to remove the hammer strut pin and the roll pin holder replace it into the new hammer. That's it. Install the new parts and safety and function test. Easy as pie. Take time and enjoy it. You now have a exceptional 4lb match style trigger for your 1911.
As it says drop in.(18/09/2016)
All parts installed without any fitting and work as advertised on my Kimber Tactical Custom ll.
Love This Trigger Kit(04/12/2017)
I first bought this for my Taurus 1911 and could not have been more pleased. Because the hammer needed a little honing, it took the gun smith an extra few minutes and the trigger breaks at an even 4 pounds. I next installed this in my Springfield Range Officer and it made all the difference to the trigger pull. I have since then installed this kit in all my 1911 GI models. I Have both the standard and stainless steal in my 1911s.
Do note that if your 1911 has a Spur Hammer and you switch to a Combat Hammer you will need to swap out the Bob Tail safety for a Beaver Tail safety. You will also have to do a little work to the safety after installing the kit.
Better than Advertised.(26/01/2010)
Dropped one in my Caspian, trigger is well under 4 lbs, zero creep and as nice or nicer than the trigger in my Les Baer or Kimber. Worth every penny.
Not quite drop in(28/03/2010)
I installed the trigger kit. Most of the parts dropped in but the sear and hammer both needed fitting (2 hours of work for me) in order to function correctly. I was installing in a mil spec Springfield (circa 2000). I was having trouble with the safety being very hard to engage. The end result though is beautiful. The trigger has no creep and feels better than most rifle triggers I have.
Great Product!(31/12/2010)
Installed on a Springfield GI-45 frame. All parts fit into frame without modification. The only thing was the factory hammer strut pin did not fit into the new hammer. I had to use a different pin. The new trigger is clean and crisp. Only a small amount of take up in the trigger, but I'm using the factory trigger as well. I'm looking forward to being able to use this gun in pistol matches now. Overall, worth the money for sure. I would recommend this product.
needs sodme work(20/01/2011)
Installed in a Colt Defender, this was an easy install, until I tried to use it. The de burring of the hammer was not well done, with sharp edges galore and copious fitting to have the thumb safety come on without using a hammer. The half c*ck position does NOT release with a simple trigger pull, it locks totally until the hammer is brought to full c*ck and then can be released by the trigger. It operates like the older A1 1911's in this respect. Also, it took many minutes of work with a rose stone and ceramic stone to bring the finish on the hammer and sear to an acceptable clean release .. I got one of the super match kits as well, and it appears to be far better finished right out of the package, so you definitely get just what you pay for.. the cheaper tactical match takes a LOT more hand work and it remains sticky even with the added work on it. Get the tactical II kit for a better deal.
Disappointed, Did not work on PT 1911(03/03/2013)
Tried this as a drop in. Did not work. Made the slide impossible to rack. It messed up grip safety engagement also: no grip safety after install. Not much qualitative change in trigger pull. Gun Returned to baseline function after removal and reinstall of Taurus parts.
Perfect for Tactical / Hunting Pistols(08/04/2015)
Installed in a stainless model SW1911. Great fit. Trigger pull close to as advertised (4 lbs, 9 oz.). Perfect break. Only wish it came already blued. Absolutely worth the money. As a side note: all the negative comments I've seen involve either a Springfield Armory pistol and/or a 1911 with the military style grip safety. There are good reasons for both to have problems: 1st:Springfield armory pistols' sear and hammer holes are not drilled perpendicular to the frame relief and are also not drilled parallel to each other (both critical to a good trigger pull). As such, no hammer or sear, by any manufacturer will "drop in" without major work.: 2nd: Military style grip safeties only clear military style hammers (high spur). I have handled (and tuned) many 1911's in the past. I have since adopted a strict policy of not owning, working on or even shooting any 1911 made in the Philippines or Illinois. Quality control in the manufacture of these guns has proven to be abysmal. Maybe they've gotten better over the years, but my money will never be wasted finding out!
50/50(28/05/2015)
Worked great in my Rock Island tactical full size. Right at the 4.5# advertised trigger pull. My ATI commander, it didn't go so well. The trigger pull is very crisp now, but 1.5# heavier.
"WOW"!!(16/02/2016)
Put this kit into a new Commander, and yes, it was a "drop in". Looked the parts over with magnification and could find no fault. Hardest part is getting the series 80 levers back in. HUGE improvement over the stock parts.
My First 1911 Trigger Job was a Success!(06/10/2016)
This was my first time gutting a 1911 this deeply. I must say that it took holding the mouth just right, and a lot of struggles (due to my inexperience) but the results were exactly as advertised. I was unable to use the hammer as my existing strut would not fit it. Video review can be seen here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ecwCXDAQlTg
Nice kit easy install(17/09/2011)
Replaced NM Springfield parts with these. Good looking easy install. Minuim adjustment of sear spring to adjust to desired weight of pull.
Get an extra standard size sear pin as SA was .005 larger than standard and would have require too much force to install.
NICE Parts for the money
SA grip safety had to be relieved to have hammer clear in the recessed pocket. You might want to get a replacement grip safety when ordering
Excellent Upgrade(20/07/2015)
Bought this as a drop in upgrade for my Kimber Gold Match 1911, it now has a light, very crisp pull Hammer, sear, and disconnector have a Rockwell hardness certificate (53, 55, and 55 respectively), great upgrade from the Kimber MIM parts which were begining to wear after nearly 20 years. Also purchased an Ed Brown SS MSH to complete the upgrade (beautiful fit - no mod necessary). In retrospective, would also have bought a hammer strut and pin to speed installation as old hammer strut pin was impinged on both sides and required a bit of finese to remove - a new hammer strut and pin (less than $10) would have saved time during installation. Fit was almost perfect, had to file the notch on sear leg of the spring a tiny for sear clearance (less than a quarter of a millimeter) but other than that a beautiful fit. Intial trigger pull without spring manipulation was 3.5lbs, simple adjustment to spring brought it to 3 lbs. Bottomline, very happy with the purchase.
excellent quality (23/10/2017)
Installed this kit in my Regent R200S 1911. Just about everything fit perfectly. The only problem I had was the hammer was slightly too short ie. when fired the hammer would follow the slide back without cocking. Had to build it up slightly. Now with everything in the kit installed, the trigger pull is so effortless its hard to push or pull the shot off target, which is what I was aiming for.
A true trigger job in a can.(26/01/2011)
This kit is easily installed by anyone who knows how to detail strip a 1911. The trigger pull was right about at 3 lbs. as advertised. The break is crisp and the reset is light yet quick. I would highly recommend this for competition or range use. The hammer looks like a double action only hammer and as a result, you must rack the slide in order to engage the hammer. If it were not for that caveat, this would have received a rating of 5. My 1911 is much easier to shoot more accurately and quicker.

Parts are wire EDM cut from bar stock, honed and polished, then heat treated for years of service life. All profiles and through-holes are mechanically correct to function without hand fitting. Sear nose has correct relief angle, sear spring is narrowed to reduce pull weight. Exposed hammer edges on Ultra-Light, Super?Match and Tactical II are chamfered to minimize slide drag and clothing wear. Each kit contains a hammer, sear, disconnector, sear spring and hammer spring. ULTRA LIGHT KIT - 3.5 lb. pull weight. Ultra light, skeletonized, hammer; relieved to prevent frame rub. Ultra light match sear and disconnector. Lightened sear spring, 18 lb. hammer spring. ULTRA LIGHT SPEED II KIT - 3 lb. pull weight. Low-profile, skeletonized hammer relieved to prevent frame rub; ultra-light weight cuts lock time to a minimum. Deep, crisp serrations ensure secure thumb contact for fast, positive cocking. Properly matched spring weights give the specified pull weight and ensure positive ignition. TACTICAL II KIT - 4 lb. pull weight. Tactical II hammer with relieved sides, ultra match sear and disconnector, light sear spring, 18 lb. hammer spring. TACTICAL MATCH KIT - 4.5 lb. pull weight. Tactical hammer, sear, disconnector, light pull sear spring, 18 lb. hammer spring. Great for carry guns. WARP SPEED KIT - 3 lb. pull weight. Very low mass hammer, relieved to prevent frame rub. Low mass sear and disconnector, 18 lb. hammer spring, light pull sear spring. DUTY/CARRY KIT - 4½ lb. pull weight for duty or carry pistols. Comes with classic, military-style spur hammer, for those who prefer that style or are required to have it on duty weapons. Includes sear, disconnector, 23 lb. hammer spring, and sear spring. PROFESSIONAL KIT - 5 lb. of pull weight and is designed for military and police shooters. Gives complete trigger control in high-stress situations. Contains hammer, sear, disconnector, 23 lb. hammer spring and tactical sear spring.
