No-Gunsmithing Optic Mount With Backup Rear "Iron" Sight
An easy way to add a tactical optic to your Kalashnikov, this steel mount replaces the rear sight on any AK-pattern rifle to enable mounting of a red dot or holographic sight. MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny slots provide a rock-solid attachment point for the optic that won’t shift during extended-fire sessions. Easy to install - requires no permanent modification to the rifle. Channel through the length of the mount has a built-in rear sight that works with factory front sight for iron sight backup in the event of optic damage, failure, or battery run-down.
SPECS: Machined steel, black oxide finish. 3½” (8.9cm) long. 3.5 oz. (99g) wt. Rail fits all AK-pattern rifles with a rear leaf sight. All mounting hardware included.

AK47 Rear Sight Rail(14/03/2011)
I mounted this rail on an Izmash AK rear sight base. I've tried other rail mounts including both the side lock receiver mount and dust cover mounts with negligible results due to height and movement, and not holdiong a solid zero. This rail is a great alternative, its solid easy to install and adjust and is extremely stable. I had to slightly modify the front sight base with a dremel in order to mount it but it was well worth the 3 minutes of extra fit and finnish. At the range with an EOTECH 551 it was shooting less than 1" groups at 50 and 3"in. at 100 yds. Great for an AK-SU with a 12" barrel and 4.5in. permanent flashhider. No movement whatsoever. Would be excellent on normal AK's watch optic size due to sight height and offset. I'll be purchasing a Burris Fastfire or Trijicon RMR to replace the larger EOTECH and get a bit lower offset better suited to the compact AKSU.
Best AK Rear Sight Rail Going(30/08/2014)
Of the two AK sight rails that I am aware of this is far and away the best. It's so utterly simple that it borders on brilliant. It is sturdy and in no way impinges on removal/replacement of the receiver cover. Its' small size precludes any sagging (the inherent design flaw of the other sight rail). Use blue LokTite just to be on the safe side. The mount is durable, solid and holds zero just fine. Whereas the previous reviewer altered his sight base for a good fit, I found altering the "foot" of the rail attachment system by Dremel is just as easy, quick and leaves the firearm unaltered.
