Did you know that a pivot pin spring and detent can actually attain Mach 1? Find it necessary to maintain an inventory of these pesky springs and detents because your's keep getting launched into outerspace? Prevent this from happening with this nifty tool. A must-have for your bench

[@] recommended this simple tool as one of the few tools needed to put a rifle together. It makes the installation of the tiny and slippery pivot pin a snap. If you try to do it by hand without the tool you are going to spend a lot of time struggling and cursing and dropping pieces! I highly recommend it.

I put together my first lower with a parts kit and the very helpul AR-15 videos on Brownells site. I was lucky to have access to this wonderful tool. It made installing the front pivot pin a snap!

Very, very, VERY handy tool! (12/03/2011)

Definitely worth the price of admission if you're building multiple lowers. Take note that if you're only planning to build one lower for yourself, it might be worth the $10 savings to not buy this tool as the pivot pin can be installed without it... but it'll take you three times as long with an equal amount of frustration. One safety tip when installing these detents and springs: wear glasses. They fly hard, and you'll be staring at them when they fly! Also, I cover my head and lower with an old bed blanket to contain the springs and detents when they fly-- and they WILL fly. (If you're not getting it-- this handy tool helps prevent flying parts from going AWOL into your eyeball or under the shop bench!)

The ONLY Pivot Pin Tool you should buy (22/03/2011)

I have a different make pivot pin detent tool and it does work, but not always on the 1st try. This one works like a charm on the 1st try each and every time. Yet another tool, that you can't live without if you build an AR. Buy one and never look back!

Must Have Tool For AR-15 Builders!!!! (07/11/2011)

I ordered this Pivot Pin Dentent Installation Tool specifically for review for my fellow AR-15 builders and enthusiasts. I used this tool yesterday to install two sets of pivot pins on two of my personal AR-15's and I can say this.....What an idiot I was to not have already owned one! This tool works perfectly and everytime!

Anyone who has ever built and AR-15 will tell you that installing the front pivot pin without this tool is a pain in the neck. I have personally lost several detents and springs trying to use makeshift tools to depress the detent itself. This tool is very simple in design and my hat goes of to Brownells for yet another "MUST HAVE" AR-15 tool!

The tool has a nice smooth finish which helps with inserting and removing it from the pivot pin holes in your lower receiver. It is very well made and it shows.

All you have to do is slide it in, align the holes, drop in the spring and detent, turn the tool (which depresses the detent and spring) and push your pivot pin in as you pull the tool out! That's it! Very simple and save you tons of frustration and prevents loosing small parts! I would recommend everyone interested in building an AR-15!!! Thanks Brownells!!!

Purchased after losing one detent pin.

Actually I dont have one,But they do work Great.
If you need something now,Most folks have a allen wrench that will fit through the pivot holes in there lower,Im sure you know the rest.

I read the reviews on this tool and thought I would try it without buying this. Then...something told me to get it anyways. Well I have to say it took about 30 seconds to get the pin in and poof...it was complete. At first I thought there had to be more to it. If you are building your lower, "You Cant Do Without This!"

This is a must-have for anyone planning on building an AR. I can't even imagine installing a pivot pin without one of these now. This thing turns a frustrating process into an afterthought. I use it on every single build and it's saved me much frustration. If you've ever shot a detent or spring out during pivot pin installation, you know what I'm talking about. It's simple, durable, get's the job done easily, and is affordable. Stop mucking around and buy it. You'll be happy you did.
