Makes the Rem 700 bolt seem like legos(05/04/2012)
These tools are incredibly efficient and easy to use. I just finished stripping my bolt for the first time using this kit (and the first time ever) and I can say without a doubt that I'm glad I never tried to do it without this kit. It's so well thought out and simple to operate. It takes every bit of spring tension safely out of the equation and allows you to spend the time cleaning and polishing. The complete disassembly took me under 10 minutes my first time. I'm sure It'll take me less than 5 next time.
As a side note. I thought I was taking good care of my gun. Cleaned it after every range trip, kept well oiled, made sure the patches ran clean before I quit, but I had no idea what was lurking inside my bolt. The Remington 700 firing pin is untreated steel that is only coated from the factory at the base with a light moly grease. After only 130 rounds in little over 3 months the pin was already covered in surface rust.
I cleaned the junk off of it, ran a course of scotchbrite over it to smooth it back up, treated it three times with G96, then chucked it into a drill and polished it up nice. Reassembled the bolt with a shot of Dry graphite lube and now I know I can rely on it for a good long while. Same goes with the ejector.
If you love your Remington 700 as much as I love mine then this kit will be some of the best money you ever spend on it.
Received my tool kit today(16/02/2016)
Bought the kit on sale. Tool kit in the mail today. All items were packaged individually. Instruction sheets were damaged in the packaging process. Sinclair should provide *.pdf documents for download to the purchaser. Punches required for bolt disassembly should be included in kit. These comments are made prior to use. Function of kit parts are not in question.
Great tool kit saves time and energy.(09/04/2016)
As I was first taught in the service I have been using my shoe strings or a vise to take apart any Remington 700 bolt.
After 45 years of this it has taken its toll on my boots and hands. These practices still work when needed
But this kit works great. I opened the box today and stripped my first bolt in under 5 minutes. The only thing that should be added to this kit is a matching pin punches and hammer to round out what you need to tear a bolt apart. I carry these punches and hammer in my range bag.
I have already started to tear down each of my rifles for spring cleaning. Thank You.
Makes Rem 700 Bolt Cleaning a breeze!(20/04/2017)
Being an Ex-military weapons guy, I understand the need to keep your weapons CLEAN. This kit certainly makes cleaning the bolt on my 700 a breeze. It is so much easier to take apart and clean the bolt after each firing session now where I would dread doing so before purchasing this kit. It does take the worry out of the spring tension and things flying apart if not handled just right. It certainly makes avoiding injury much less likely that the kit is worth it for this alone. If you own a Remington 700 this is a must have for proper and complete cleaning.
