Two Way To Support Upper Receiver In A Vise Without Risk Of Damage
Heavy duty, machined aluminum vise block lets you clamp an AR-15/M16 upper receiver in a bench vise without risk of marring the finish or distorting the receiver from over-tightening. Dual-use design allows the receiver to be positioned top side up or, if it’s a flattop, upside down; either way, the vise grasps the block and never touches the receiver. One side of the block fits in the underside of the receiver and is held securely in place with two, steel, T-pins inserted through the takedown pin holes, so you can install optics, perform thorough cleaning, and do other work on the exterior. Or, slide a flattop receiver rail into the grooves on the other side of the block and tighten the locking bar with the large thumbscrew to hold the receiver upside down for easy access to the underside.
SPECS: Body - Aluminum, hardcoat anodized, matte black. 7” (17.8cm) long, 1¼” (3.2cm) wide, 1¼” high. Pins – Steel, black oxide finish. Fits AR-15/M16/M4 and clones with .250” diameter takedown pin holes.

Well made, top quality, sturdy. Holds the upper by the pinholes or by grasping the flat top. Does not mar the finish. Solid aluminum block construction.
Love the Versatility(25/04/2011)
I've used this to build a complete VLTOR upper with a heavy 24" barrel from scratch. I love how you can attach this vise block to the upper two different ways. I normally use the two lugs to mount the upper to the vise block. I tried using the "flat top" side of the block and can't seem to tighten the thumbwheel and plate enough against the Picatinny rail; i.e. it'll slide fore-aft a little if you're not careful. If you don't do work that'll place longitudinal forces on the upper while mounted in the vise block, you should be fine. Also, when you utilize the flat top side, there's a little less area for the vise jaws to clamp onto. Still, I'd highly recommend this tool.
Almost perfect.(24/11/2012)
Nicely machined and very well made. It's nifty that you can mount the receiver upright or inverted. I also noted that while mounting the picatinny with the thumbscrew, I couldn't tighten it enough to eliminate axial movement. I contacted the company(GREAT customer service)and the simple answer is to use pliers on the thumb screw. The screw head is a tad small for fingers to adequately torque, so just a nudge with pliers does the trick. Yes, they should put a diffferent screw in the block, hence the 4 stars.
Oh, the two pins are not as pictured in the catalog. They have key rings in lieu of the T-handle. No biggie.
PRI-MOUNTS UPPER VICE BLOCK(31/10/2013)
THE SUPPLIED PULL PINS WILL NOT FIT INTO THE UPPER RECEIVER. I CONTACTED THE COMPANY AND SPOKE WITH THEM AND LEARNED THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND THEY WILL SEND YOU A SET OF NEWER PINS. HEADACHE!!!!
OK for some tasks(15/11/2016)
This works well for tasks where I want the receiver to be aligned with the bore axis vertical, but otherwise I prefer the Magpul vise block or Geissele reaction rod. I wouldn't want to put a lot of torque into the upper receiver while attached via this block. I'm glad I have all three vise blocks, but this is expensive for what it does.
