The original, time-proven formula developed by Jim Brobst and produced under exclusive license. J-B has been getting burned-on, caked-in powder residue and copper jacket fouling out of gun barrels since the 1960’s, and hasn’t damaged an inch of rifling yet. Today, J-B once again proves itself a champion by the way it easily cleans the dirtiest, moly-fouled barrels. A unique combination of ingredients and a one-of-kind, multi-step mixing process give J-B its special characteristics. They work together to cushion the abrasive action; the soft paste liquifies as you use it, then wipes out of the bore easily. The non-embedding feature means there’s no abrasive residue left behind which might keep "cutting" after you’ve finished cleaning. J-B has been a favorite on gunsmiths’ benches for years, as a "magic" cure for customer guns that "...just won’t shoot anymore". These pros know that a good scrubbing with J-B often restores accuracy. Match and varmint shooters put a lot of rounds down range, many of those using moly coated bullets. The large amounts of copper fouling and the burned-in moly can create a cleaning nightmare; J-B makes short work of it. Use J-B with the Lewis Lead Remover to get the last speck of leading out of pistol bores. Shotguns combine lead, powder and plastic fouling to really throw patterns off; J-B cleans it all out quickly and easily. Here’s what a couple of the most respected names in the shooting industry have said about J-B. Jim Carmichel, gun writer and dedicated shooter, "I have used J-B for years and routinely use it even on my very finest benchrest rifles. When no other bore cleaner will get the job done, J-B will." The late Warren Page, a benchrest shooting legend, wrote the praises of J-B when it was first introduced to the shooting public. He said, " J-B is an ultra mild, abrasive oil paste, finer than jewelers’ rouge, which we in the rifle accuracy shenanigan, a few years ago, found was the answer to problems of metal fouling and serious powder fouling that solvents either won’t touch, or will cut only by much labor." And, "... it was quickly discovered that such an extremely fine abrasive, used with discretion, would take out caked powder residue and mild metal streaking without ruining the bore."

Fantastic(21/09/2009)
I have winchester top eject that is quite old, very early model. I notice a strip of rust on the end of the rifling close to the crown. I purchased JB bore compound, as per instructions i cleaned and degreased the barrel. Then i used the bore compound and carefully scrubbed the barrel. It took from what i could see all the rust off the rifling. I was amazed. For cleaning i used Kroil another excellent product that gets into the metal which lubricates and degreases. Afterwards i just ran patches through until the patches were clean and dry.
Excellent Result(03/01/2012)
I have a Weatherby AccuMark in .280. Since shortly after purchase (2001) I have always had an issue with it "fling" the 3, 4 or 5th round in a 5 shot group, it was very inconsistent which one it would fly, but ALWAYS flew one. On the advise of a gunsmith and Weatherby I went about, resetting scope, checking ring and mount tightness, action screws for correct torque..so on and so on. No real help, and by the way, I found all the before mentioned items were correct. Further more, I was almost always getting the green tinted tell-tail patch after letting Hopper's #9 soak in the barrel for any amount of time. After doing extensive research I discovered JB Compound and Kroil oil listed as a possible cure for the failing that was possibly causing my fliers. Along with the VFG Rifle Cleaners I found here, I set about cleaning my barrel. Simple process, just follow the directions on the JB Compound. Unbelievable results!!! The next time at the range I shout a 10 shot group ALL within a .65. Brought the rifle home, did a "normal" barrel clean with Hopper"s and patches. The next morning I was back to the range. I shot 5, 5 shot groups, largest at .75 and one that was as small as .35, almost couldn't tell how many bullets actually when through the very small clover leaf pattern. I directly contribute the return of accuracy to the JB and Kroil oil cleaning process outlined in several videos I found on the internet. EXCELLENT PRODUCT!
Lapping compound(27/01/2013)
excellent to use as lapping compund for 1911 frame. Cut it 50-50 with gun oil.
Good Stuff(07/11/2013)
Thought my bore was clean until I used this. I've been using Hoppe's Elite Copper solvent and the old trusted Hoppe's #9. It does a good job but can't compare to this.
WOW!!!(19/04/2018)
My son picked up a sweet deal on a "MAUSER MODELO ARGENTINO 1891" all # 's matching and we took it to the range. The bore was rough and at 50 yds we couldn't even hit the target! He was disappointed but thought at least he has a nice collectors piece.I was making a purchase on Brownell's and just browsed the review's on cleaning products and saw that other folks praised the JB Bore cleaner, so I bought it and the JB Bore Bright along with the # 634 30 cal- 7.5mm Felt Cleaner & VFG 3 Pellet Adapter 8-32 For .30 cal(needed for cleaning rod). I followed the prod videos advice to the letter. MY Goodness!!! I was amazed at the crud that was removed & the way the bore looked after 4-5 hours of s e r i o u s scrubbing! We just shot it today and were pleased as punch at the results. Consistent groups on paper at 50 yds, so now the sight adj can commence. Thanks for a superior product and sound advice Brownell's!!!
works well(16/10/2009)
Works great after you get it in the right spot. It was difficult to get a good amount down the barrel at first but after some practice it is well worth it. Makes cleaning excessively dirty bores easy, and speeds routine cleaning.
Great Stuff(05/11/2009)
This stuff is magic in my shop. When I install a new barrel it never leaves my shop without a thorough scrubbing with J-B. I started cleaning my barrel with Kroil and a brush then polishing it out with J-B in between matches. Now this is my standard operating proceedure. It must be good because brownells is now selling J-B and kroil packaged together(P/N 083-065-000)as a cleaning kit. Seems like somebody else has discovered my barrel magic.
Excellent cleaner!(09/11/2009)
Works great, and even better if you finish it off by using JB Bore Bright polish! Noticed a difference in the inner smoothness of my barrels. Best and easiest to use when you clam/vise your barrel in place.
GREATEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD(10/11/2009)
I'VE BEEN USING THIS PRODUCT FOR APPROX. 4YRS. NO SMELL. LITTLE MESS. EXCELLENT RESULTS. I'VE USED IT IN RIFLES, PISTOLS, AND SHOTGUNS. A LITTLE DAB ON A SOFT CLOTH CLEANS THE RESIDUE FROM THE CYLINDER FACE OF A STAINLESS REVOLVER WITH MINIMAL EFFORT. I USE THIS PRODUCT AT MY DEPARTMENT AS AN ARMORER AND ON MY PERSONAL FIREARMS. A GOOD CLEANING ROD, A GOOD CORRECT CALIBER OR GAUGE BORE JAG, AND GOOD QUALITY FLANNEL PATCHES ARE ALL THAT IS NEEDED FOR EXCELLENT RESULTS.(ALSO A LITTLE ELBOW GREASE BUT NOT AS MUCH AS OTHER PRODUCTS USED IN THE PAST)
Cut my 30-06 groups in half !(23/11/2009)
After recrowning with Brownells crowning set (080-591-900), and a good bore cleaning with J-B,my groups with a Remington 30-06 went from 4 inches to under 2 inches!
The Best!(21/02/2010)
I am meticulous about cleaning my rifles after I shoot. I thought I was doing a good job with other bore cleaners until one day I used the J-B. After what I thought was a clean bore I ran a patch of the JB through and it was filthy. A few more runs through and the bore was like new. I went back and re cleaned some bores and the results were amazing. 80+ year old rifle bores were sparkling. This is by far the best bore cleaner I ever used. PLEASE don't stop making it!
It works(16/05/2011)
I follow the instructions on the container and it works great. Saw it being used in a "break-in" video for a precision rifle and decided to give it a try. It makes barrels clean. Used it on my 3-gun AR-15 rifle barrel that is NOT chrome lined after I thought I had it clean and a lot more crud came out. After the JB's was wiped out, I followed with Hoppe's #9, let it sit for a couple of minutes and ran a clean patch through the bore again and it came out almost solid green. THAT'S when you know the barrel is clean...when you get green patches coming out removing copper buildup and the green gets less and less. This stuff works great.
If you own a gun then you need this(18/12/2011)
ive been shooting for 20 plus years, my dad called me told me he found some stuff that would clean your barrel of deposits even after a good cleaning.I told him that ive never heard anything that couild do that,so he sent me some and he was right, just a littel on a piece of cloth run it down your barrel and it will take out lead desosits powder build up.I use this product on all my pistols, shotguns,ar style weapons and hunting rifles
Great for new and old guns(23/01/2012)
I have been shooting (and cleaning) for years, and was shown this product by a friend. I took my 1st Mosin Nagant ($35.00) and made the barrel shine in 5 minutes, it looks chromed. I have over a dozen Nagants and none match this one for barrel shine, and accuracy. They all cost much more and none shoot the 3/4 MOA this one does. Since then I have polished all my rifles, new, match shooters, .22s and milsurps, some chrome lined, some dark from years of corrosive ammo, and some with NM barrels. Not one has not shown visible improvement. Each time I show it to a friend they are impressed and buy some as well. It really has no drawbacks, simply clean the barrel (maybe you don't need to, it seems wise to remove the majority of the crud), use 4 or so patches of JB over a brush (I use 4-6 strokes per patch) then clean with your favorite bore cleaner. The 1st patch seems to remove all the JB residue, but I run a few anyway ("belt and suspenders"). Takes just a few minutes, what a difference. I don't use it each time, but every few cleanings each gun gets the JB treatment in my world. Once you polish the barrel with JB it seems easier to clean from then on. Go ahead, try it, then show your friends, they will thank you. It belongs in any serious shooter's cleaning kit.
I love this stuff.(05/06/2012)
I use this to clean all of my pistols and rifles after every shoot. I love how it gets the barrel rifling clean in the nooks of the grooves. Great for someone with almost OCD tendencies like me.
Awesome stuff(17/09/2014)
A tip for JB Bore Paste users... consider applying JB with a good bore mop. Simply dab a bit of JB on to a bore mop, work it in a bit, and clean your barrel (from the breach end, if possible, natch). The mop is nice and soft yet snug in the bore, and can be reversed in the bore (to scrub the tough spots) with no ill effects. Additionally, if you only apply JB to the middle of the mop, the non-JB'd areas of the mop do a pretty respectable job of gathering up all the gunk that the JB loosens.
Unbelievable(08/12/2015)
I just CAN NOT believe how well this magic paste works. I used it on a Winchester 94/22 that hadn't been cleaned properly in at least 20 years. I ran the paste through once with a cotton bore swab, followed by five passes with a bronze bore brush. The cotton patch I ran through came out black. I ran three passes of a bore snake with KROIL for good measure. Not satisfied, I repeated the process with five more passes of the bore swab and the brush, and the patch was still dirty, so I gave the snake another series of pulls through the bore. And it absolutely gleamed after that, with no traces of any fouling at all. Beautiful clean rifling all the way down the bore from end to end.
Man, this is really fine stuff. I probably won't use it for every cleaning, but I will now -definitely- use it on a regular basis. Highly recommended.
Good compound(26/05/2017)
This is a great product for removing surface rust from in side a barrel. You will need to use several dry patches to get the compound out of the barrel. Run a few patches with bore solvent throught the barrel to make sure you got it all out. The a dry patch or 2 through the barrel & them a patch with gun oil to help prevent any more surface rust in the barrel. This stuff Works great.
