Not a Drop in fit in my Reciever 31/12/2011
Was not a drop in fit in my reciever, When I went to put it in the 10/22 it would not clear the barrel, Guide rod was to long, Checked against the factory rod, and the end that was swaged by bolt handle was longer than on the factory one by .060. Filed it down to get it to clear the barrel. When installed it seemed to bind on the reciever, Had to file down the 90 deg cut that rides in the reciever, then worked fine. might be just my reciever, Better than the factory bolt handle. And works fine now.
Nice piece but be prepared 26/06/2011
The finish and looks are great. I did have a problem when installing into a target version Ruger 10/22 rifle which already has upgraded hammer and recoil spring and rod along with different or better put reworked bolt assy then the standard carbine. When installed into the target version with bull barrel it wanted to bind and did not operate properly. I then removed it and inspected it along side the factory rod and found that it allowed more horizontal movement than the factory piece. i then installed in into a standard carbine and it worked wonderfully. i am a master certified gunsmith and armorer and have had extensive practice on Rugers so I am very sure it was not user error but just to be sure I reinstalled it into the target version again with the same results. The target version comes with reworked hammer, sear and recoil rod which are very nice quality and do not recommend changing these parts with aftermarket stuff. its just not necessary. slight stoning of the hammer and sear does improve trigger pull along with slight lightening of the main spring with a belt sander but other than that the target rifle is excellent the way it comes from the factory. just remember to keep the sear engagement positive or neutral and not negative or it will go off with just a bump.
