Noveske’s STS (Short Throw Selector) gives your AR’s selector a short 60° throw for fast, easy transition between the “Fire” and “Safe” positions. It uses Magpul’s popular SSG selector lever (included) for the FN SCAR for enhanced ergonomic feel, and is available in both standard right-hand and ambidextrous versions. For further versatility, the Noveske kit includes both long and short levers to help you get the best feel and function. The central shaft is machined from hardened stainless steel with a nitride coating for surface wear resistance.

Way better than a regular selector(17/03/2013)
The short throw of the Noveske STS is perfect. It makes it easier and quicker to get on or off safe. The parts are very well made and offer excellent engagement with the detent. I had to trim my selector spring by 1/16" to 1/8" to ease operation.
Must have(20/07/2013)
I have used mine for about a year or so now and it's great. Going to pick up more to put on my other AR's.
Not worth the extra money(24/12/2013)
This product fits, and functions ok, but the levers are plastic, and they feel cheap. In the end there is nothing wrong with the standard safety selector, and I find myself wishing I hadn't spent the extra money.
Short Throw Selector(27/07/2015)
Pretty cool little item...makes getting on or off safe faster...split seconds count in a competition. The one thing you have to watch when installing it is to watch for the spring in the grip that puts pressure on the detent......I was sitting in my recliner and took a bit of searching but found it later under the recliner....I might order an AR15 parts kit next time just in case....plus work over a white towel on a table..lol.
Great product(19/07/2016)
Mine mounted as described in the instructions with only the following deviation. The lever was very tight as it was pushed on to the selector shaft (not a complaint at all, I would want it that way). The key to easily installing that TINY screw is that both holes be perfectly aligned. Instead of a hammer, I used a small C-clamp with bits of duct tape on the pads. I made sure the pads ONLY touched the shaft on one end and the lever on the other and slowly turned the C-clamp handle until both holes aligned. The screw then mounted very easily. (And yes, a jewelerâs screwdriver came in very handy).
The Noveske selector has since performed flawlessly. The Magpul lever feels as solid as what it replaced, no different from many of the other Magpul products used and trusted by most of us on our rifles. Noveskeâs âoutside the boxâ thinking has produced a well-engineered and well-executed product at a reasonable price. Also, the 60-degree short-throw allows people, like me, who have arthritis starting to creep in to their fingers, a MUCH easier time manipulating the safety. This makes a world of difference for me.
Levers are plastic(22/09/2012)
This is a good design. But, the execution was poor. The levers are plastic. once installed, there was no solid click or feel for the safe/fire positions. the plastic feels like it could break easily. I took it off of my AR, and I put it on my 22LR plinker. I don't think it will last too long on that either. I definately expected more from the manufacturer quality wise.
Good product, works as intended(08/10/2012)
This selector gives me good positive control over my fire control. It snaps from safe to fire with a crisp click and is much faster than traditional styles. The levers are made of the same high strength quality polymer that we all love in the Pmag, allowing this to be a more budget friendly short-throw selector. The levers were originally designed for the Mk16/17 series rifles, but fit the AR platform with next to no issues. my only complaint is that they are a little bulky, but such is the beast of polymer.
Great Design and Positive results.(01/12/2012)
This is the best short throw Ambi safety I have tried. It has positive lock into either position and works well. It does take a jewelers screwdriver. However, once it is on. It will stay on and in place.
Disappointing(09/03/2013)
I was really looking forward to this. First, the threaded pins that attach the ends were too big. Drilled out the holes. Then the pins were very difficult to align resulting in partially stripped poly threads. Finally completed installation and function was very stiff. Disassembled it to find that poor detent geometry had chewed the tip off of my pin. Junk compared to the stock DPMS safety.
Made for a toy(16/05/2013)
This was my first handling & install of the Noveske/Magpul selector kit. Levers are poor quality, cheap plastic. I would not install/use this product on any rifle or carbine of my own.
Handles/feels like more of an airsoft product.
Quality Control(02/08/2013)
I do a good deal of gunsmithing so I am familiar with both good and poor quality components.
I too was surprised by the plastic levers, although they appeared to be well made with no plastic flash left for me to remove.
Two small screws are included that thread into the plastic with a protruding stud that captures the corresponding hole in the safety securing the levers in place. Upon inspection, which was immediately apparent, these holes were not symmetrical off the part centerline and they should be.
Keep in mind although the plastic levers are intentionally different, the pocket and screw locations are identical therefore so should their corresponding features.
What does this mean you ask?
It means that the gap between the lever and the exterior surface of the lower receiver is different on one side than it is on the other. In this big scheme of things this is relatively minor however this is a review and what I discovered.
I really expected more from Noveske Rifleworks. I've had the pleasure of using their products in the past and have always been very impressed. I wish I was equally impressed but unfortunately I'm not.
Does it work? Yes Was it easy to install: Yes Will I replace it? No Is it worth the additional $30.00 or so dollars over a standard selector switich? Not in my opinion...
Ambidextrous STS Selector(28/08/2013)
I like the product and as a left handed instructor I have used all of the ambi parts on on the market and this beats all of the ambi-safeties in its price range as well as many above its price range. I'm currently using three of them on rifles I use to teach with and they are performing as wanted/needed. Easy to install, positive clicks in both positions; what's not to like.
Stay away(02/01/2014)
The holes on the ends rotating drum were undersized for the supplied pins. They were also in the wrong place (there's a bigger gap between the right side lever and receiver than on the left).
I had to drill out the holes to be able to even assemble the part.
I expected much more out of Noveske.
Takes some getting used to(31/03/2014)
So far I really do like this switch. I'm a bit put off that it didn't come with a detent, but that's all. The ridgeing is pretty aggressive and it's easy to manipulate but it's just different than the standard switch. It is quick and easy to install and fits nicely. The small switch is exactly that. SMALL. To little for my thumbs but it functions smoothly. Over all this is excellent value for the cost. You may need to sand the ridgeing because it comes very sharp. And it may not fit some lowers with a reinforced lip. I say buy it and try.
Works great, cheap!(04/11/2014)
Worth the money for a lefty to step up to this ambi safety from the standard AR safety.
Economical-works well (09/02/2015)
I installed this Ambi STS in under 10 minutes. The barrel is well machined and the levers, while somewhat bulky, seem well engineered. The levers were a very tight fit on the tabs and required light tapping to seat them fully. Once this was done the retaining screws were easily installed with a precision jewelers screwdriver. After assembly the safety had a very positive feel. I can now manipulate between fire and safe without changing my grip. The ridges on the levers are aggressive, but this is a tool for use under stress and the ridges will assure positive action. If there is one negative it might be the gap between the lever and the receiver. It is larger than a mil-spec lever but that may be so that the polymer lever doesn't drag grit across the receiver, scratching it.
I'm sure that a more expensive lever might have a nicer feel and appearance, but at a much higher cost. Bang for the buck I don't see how the Noveske lever can be beat.
As to the negative reviews, I don't see how they could have been dealing with the same part I was. I had zero problems and I'm very satisfied with the lever.
Junk(19/12/2016)
I expected a lot more from Noveske. The plactic selectors makes the throw feel like a nerf gun.
Plastic piece of Junk! Stay away.
Simple and Reliable(05/10/2017)
I purchased this product knowing that the levers are made by Magpul. I chose to get an ambi safety after testing out the Sig MCX. I prefer the short throw set levers over a 90 degree switch. I ran this safety at the range and during a defensive carbine class. It's working great with around 400 rounds through the gun since it has been installed.
l'd like the screw to go in horizontally rather than upside down, which is why I gave it four stars.
The con for "limited function" is in relation to the user adjustable safeties on the market.
Great product for its value.(11/05/2018)
Easy to install, instructions do say to tap on the levers to have them seat properly. Product does function properly and is a bit stiff after install, but crisp.. The safety function is audible. I used this product to replace my standard AR safety which was worn-out.
