Drop-In Assembly With Strength & Durability Features For Dependable Service
Complete, mil-spec assembly with bolt, bolt carrier, and firing pin ready to drop into the rifle or carbine upper of your choice. Features a shot-peened bolt for increased surface strength and durability, and an extractor booster to ensure reliable cycling during rapid semi-auto or full-auto fire. Each assembly is magnetic particle inspection tested to ensure it’s free from imperfections that can lead to premature failures. Properly staked gas key prevents gas leakage that can lead to short stroking. M16-style carrier on the black phosphate model has full-length shroud for tripping auto sear, so this carrier may be installed on full-auto law enforcement and military rifles.
SPECS: Steel, black parkerized finish. Fits mil-spec semi-auto and full-auto AR-15/M16 upper receiver chambered for .223/5.56mm.

Just Make Sure to Check for Head Space!(08/01/2010)
I bought the DD 1:7 barrel and this bolt carrier with complete bolt set up and all I can say is check your headspace after your build. After assembling my rifle, I took it to a gunsmith to check the head space and the rifle would NOT chamber with a GO GAUGE. This was very bad. We were able to determine that there was something wrong with the bolt after switching out various parts from several working rifles into mine and vice versa.Even though I bought the product from Brownells, DD was very helpful and sent me a replacement bolt ASAP.After reassembly, I took the rifle for another inspection and I had the same problem, but it was not as bad. We were able to chamber the GO GAUGE with more effort than necessary when pulling back on the charging handle. It feels like the Gauge gets stuck and requires force to pull the charging handle back to cycle the round. We did put a dummy .223 round in and the rifle cycled just fine.As a result, the gunsmith told me to be cautious and selective of the ammo I buy.I took the rifle to the range and it fired just fine. I shot 20 rounds at the local range and was very happy that everything worked out.I was just a little disappointed with the experience and am still very confused why the bolt would not cycle even when we tried it on 3 different GO GAUGES. Aside from that experience, the quality of the carrier is superb. The key is properly staked and there is no play at all. I would definitely recommend, but make sure to take the proper precaution and check the headspace for your rifle.
Learn how to use a Go/No Go guage(05/02/2010)
You're not using the gauge correctly, obviously since the rifle shoots fine. You also need a new gunsmith.
That said, Daniel Defense makes some of the best bolt carrier assemblies on the market today. Like their rails and every thing they do, it is top notch. They stand behind it with a no BS guarantee too. Plus they're just darn nice folks.
awesome(18/02/2010)
love this bolt inexpensive and performance is so nice and reliable
as for the first review i would ask if your extractor was removed at the time of checking the headspace?
Another top notch product from DD(08/09/2010)
I purchased along with the Daniel Defense 1:7 twist barrel. I checked the head space with a Brownells no go head space guage and everything works great. The quality of the BCG is outstanding and for the price can't be beat! So far, this has been one of the most accurate M4s I have owned.
Worked great for me(07/11/2010)
I put this into my M16A1 to replace another manufacturer's BCG which wouldn't run reliably. Works great, easy to clean, 75% the price of the one it was replacing.
Awesome(20/12/2010)
This bolt was put in my daughters rifle, it has never ever been a problem. I have also put it in my Colt and it works flawlessly. This is a great product at a fraction of the cost of a Colt B.C.G., The fact that it is magnetic particle inspected and shot peened goes to testify as to the quality. I have not noticed a single drawback to this unit, buy it, you won't be sorry.
Perfect Part, Perfect Price(11/03/2011)
Get it! I had a "semi-auto" carrier that went out of spec because the design is too flimsy. "Full-auto" carriers are not illegal for civilians to own! AR Stoner designed the carrier properly given the stresses it is placed under, and the thinner "civilian" design is not built strong enough. My original semi-auto carrier went out of spec after only about 1500 rounds. I dropped this one in and after 150 rounds so far, it has functioned perfectly. Highly recommended.
OUTSTANDING BOLT(21/08/2011)
I've purchased many of these bolts to use in rebuilds and to use as spares. Perfect as they are but I also get mine NP3'ed for a built in lubricant as well as ease of cleaning. Daniel Defense is one of the best in the business when it comes to AR parts and I've been a fan of their for years. They build for the military and as such their parts and guns are all Mil-Spec and beefy. These are the same bolts that go in their M-16's that go off for their military contracts. You can't get much better than that. Outstanding product.
Best for the money!(05/02/2012)
If you are taking all that time and money in building an AR or replacing existing bolt carrier it does not get any better! If you are replacing an existing bolt carrier you may notice this one is beefier.
My headspace was perfect! My upper and barrel was Daniel Defense as well.
I would recommend this to anyone! Great quality at a great price.
A Great Bolt For Your Custom Build(04/03/2012)
This BCG was a pleasure from the start to use. I was in the process of building a custom AR-15. I needed to select a high quality BCG to go with my Daniel Defense Barrel. I decided to match them up and use the Daniel Defense BCG as well.
Headspace was perfect and bolt dropped right in as expected. Bolt is nice and beefy and the gas key is staked VERY well....as compared to some BCG's I have owned. Another thing a lot of people overlook is how easy the bolt assembles and disassembles. This is the easiest bolt I have on all of my rifle to clean. Everything is nice and snug, but not too tight to where it's a pain to disassemble.
Bolt wore in fairly quickly and now eveything has finally fallen into place. I have well over 1k rounds through this bolt and have had ZERO issue with anything. Extraction is pefect and literally slings the rounds way away from the shooter's position.
I have cleaned the bolt several times and carbnon build up is about avaerage with other similar quality bolts. If you are planning on a custom build or need spare or replacement BCG's, let me suggest this one. This bolt is the quality I have come to expect from Daniel Defense. I highly recommend and would suggest it to my close friends and family. Buy and you will not be disappointed.
Mrezo Yukon, Response (17/10/2014)
I've used Daniel Defense Bolts in AR's before and never had any issues with them. They are my go to parts over other cheaper manufacturers. Mrezo- Yukon, OK described several problems with his chamber using gauges... failure to chamber. Here is the deal- 1 there is a Mil-Spec size for the bolts machined and 2- a barrel can be out of spec in the chamber area when the barrel is not aligned properly- barrel extension and pinned in place. It can happen and a few thousandth's is all it takes to be out of spec. So before others blame the bolt, it can be a cheap out of tolerance barrel extension's fault- too tight a chamber or excess space in a chamber. The bolt is not always to blame. Use Quality parts in your AR builds.
Great BCG, good staking etc(09/02/2015)
Daniel Defense make such great products. Unlike many companies who rebrand, Daniel Defense actually makes their own bolt and carrier groups in-house and the quality, fit and finish does not disappoint!
The staking is some of the best I've ever seen, no chances of the gas key coming loose on this one.
Overall the quality is great, I've been running these hard the past few years and have not have one unit fail yet.
