Didn't work(27/09/2010)
When I buy something that claims to work in all shotguns I expect it to work in "all shotguns". I have a Remington 870 6+1 and this didn't reduce the magazine capacity down to the legal 2+1 rounds required for hunting here in CA. I can still fit 3+ in the tube and that makes it useless to me. Wish there had been more information on this product BEFORE I bought it. That's why I'm writing this review...
Good replacement!(09/12/2010)
I lost the wood dowel to my Mossberg 835 Shotgun. I went to the local gun store and they had these Brownell plugs. My research on the Internet told me that it needed to be 9 inches. There was a suggestion on the package to cut off the end cap, but I was able to leave it on and still screw on the cap to the magazine tube. I can easily take the dowel in and out without having to dump the shotgun upside down. I love it!
No Go(12/01/2012)
Winchester Defender 1300. Do not buy this if you have a 6 shot tube. It is too short to be effective.
Works, and you might need two (23/09/2015)
Those who rated this poorly simply because it wasn't long enough for an extended magazine can just buy two and put them both in, one full length and the other adjusted as the directions say. I have a 21" Benelli M2. With a +5 Nordic Components magazine extension, the mag capacity is 8. With one uncut of these products, it's 5. The second one cut at the second-to-last notch makes the magazine capacity a legal 2 of both 2 3/4" and 3" shells. Because they are separate, the first one inserted moves a little and is audible. It would be great if Brownell's offered one twice the length, or allowed them to be attached together somehow for those of us with extended magazine tubes who want to hunt with the gun without removing the extension.
