Not recommended

Brownells USA Well made - poor design 30/01/2012

I own several Marlin 336's - including Sport Carbines, a 336C, a 336 Octagon, and a 336 Cowboy, and have tried the sight on all. In each case, it mounts so far back on the tang (to accomodate bolt travel) that it interferes with a proper hold on the buttstock grip - you can't wrap your thumb over the tang area. The materials used are top notch - just a poor design for the 336. Get a receiver mounted peepsight instead - much cheaper and will work much better.

Brownells USA Clunky Design - Interferes with Cleaning 15/01/2010

I also installed this sight on my 1895CB Marlin. I have to agree with Erik from Wisconsin, the sight base is much too massive and the sight has to be disassembled in order to remove the bolt to clean the barrel from the breech end. I removed this tang sight and went with a receiver sight instead.
