Miculek S/W Spring Kit
Outstanding 02/01/2015
I read the directions and followed them.....great result, and my Second model HE .44 is now twice as light as I imagined that I could get. I haven't tried it on WW primers but could easily go heavier on the strain screw. I had refined all the little things first and had given up on springs that I liked, but this is it. Seven pounds balances the return spring perfectly giving a smooth linear double action. I shortened the strain screw too much and had to reorder, but they are less than 3 dollars. The next installs will be easier. I filled a small plastic jug with lead shot to get seven pounds on an accurate scale...wire loop to the trigger to try and lift the jug. Easy. I ordered three more JM kits today.

Adjusting (trimming) the strain screw takes a while. I use a cutoff wheel on my dremel. Don't use it as a cut off, use the side of the wheel as a grinder. Keep a bowl of water nearby to cool the screw so you can keep holding it. You will need calipers to measure the strain screw, this is all in the directions.
When finish, it will be very smooth. If you take it to 7 pounds DA, you will need to use the sensitive federal primers/ammo. In competition guns I take it down to 7 pounds, carry guns are about 8.5 pounds.
The cylinder and slide extended length firing pin helps to provide reliable ignition.
Don't expect this to drop-in. That's never worked for me. The results are really good if you are willing to do it correctly.
While you have the rebound shoe out of the gun, polish it to a mirror finish. I usually stone the bottom flat on a ceramic stone first.
Consider buying a spare strain screw and the rebound spring tool when you order this kit..
