Pre-Machined With The Proper Lockup Angle; Pre-Fit & Gunsmith Fit
Less time-consuming fitting because the proper lockup angle is pre-machined right into the bushing. Pre-Fit requires only minor fitting for installation onto Colt factory barrels. Gunsmith Fit requires fitting of both dimensions.

Very nice fit(04/08/2011)
This bushing fit perfect in my kimber both on the barrel, and in the slide. took up any slack.
EGW Angle-bore = Big Improvement!(13/05/2012)
First off, I want to point out that Brownell's does NOT provide sufficient data to purchase this product. EGW makes these bushings in a variety of OD and ID sizes, and you need to get the right one or you'll suffer.
In my case, for a Springfield Mil-Spec, I needed a 0.699OD and 0.580ID. This is EGW part #14102, described as SS, thick-flanged, drop-in.
The lockup on a modern, tight 1911 like the Mil-Spec is more complex than you might realize, partially due to the 1911 design, and partly due to the stepped muzzle on the Mil-Spec's barrel. The stock bushing is loose and actually interferes with the link-up/down of the pistol.
It took me a good solid hour, working on the ID of the bushing, to get it fitted. I used 800 grit paper wrapped around my pinky. I also found it necessary to polish the inside of the slide where it contacts the bushing with 2200 grit paper, also on a finger.
I worked on the bushing until it could be installed, was too tight to turn with the fingers but turned easily with a plastic wrench. I then manually cycled the slide and I was gobsmacked... The slide cycled like it was on rails (which it is), and the link-up/down and lockup were like clockwork. Vastly better than stock.
YMMV, but I cannot recommend the EGW angle-bored bushing highly enough for owners of modern, tight tolerance 1911's.
Commander .45 EGW Prefit Bushing(04/07/2018)
Bought this for the early model Para Ordnance P13-45 commander. Drop in fit as described. Did not need any sanding or fitting of any kind. Nice snug fit but not too tight. Hand cycles nicely. Having said that I have not had the time to test fire it yet so I will update IF I find that additional fitting is needed after I test fire.
Solid Lockup Bushing(07/09/2009)
I used this bushing on a factory Taurus 1911. This EGW bushing eliminated a great deal of free play in the barrel lockup. Accuracy improved noticeably for my gun. This EGW bushing fit the factory barrel nicely with no work on my part. The O.D. fit the slide very tightly and needed some very slight polishing to work easily with a nylon/plastic bushing wrench. Well worth the minor effort to make my gun a better shooter.
Great Product drops right in.(03/04/2010)
I replaced my factory Taurus 1911 bushing. I originally measured all out side and inside dimensions before purchase. This EGW bushing eliminated a great deal of free play. Accuracy improved noticeably for my gun. This EGW bushing fit the factory barrel and slide nicely with no work on my part. The O.D. fit the slide much tighter, Well worth the cost to make my gun a better shooter.
Best Bushing on the Market(30/05/2014)
I've been building custom 1911's since 1989. This bushing is great for 99% of the 1911 slides out there. You'll need to get the oversized OD for older Colt 1911's. The angle bore saves tons of time and is perfect everytime. I make a living building 1.5" 50 yard 1911 .45's and 1.0" 50 yard 9mm's. THIS BUSHING WILL DO IT EVERYTIME!
Excellent fit(08/09/2014)
Purchased for an older Springfield Loaded, ca 2006 model that came with a parkerized gi bushing. I measured and ordered the pre-fit expecting, after reading some other reviews, that some fitting would still be required. The only disappointment is that it did not require any fitting at all! Dropped right in, much tighter fit on the barrel, looks good. Two recommendations that I have: first if your slide has a carry bevel front, get the carry bevel bushing, I didn't and the squared off bushing is very noticeable. Second, the extra length plug really isn't necessary.
Great Part--but be sure to measure OD/ID(22/06/2016)
This is a solid part, which I bought to replace a loose Colt factory bushing. However, despite the description, the ID was way too tight for the barrel. While I was able to make it fit, I believe I messed up the bore angle.
The manufacturer's website has extensive information on measurement and fitting, as well as info on the different bore options. You may wish to check this before you place your order. That said, the bushing is great--I bought another; hopefully this will be the right size.
Broke after less than 700 rounds(10/02/2017)
Just got this several months ago. Installed with little fitting. After less than 700 rounds, it broke off during firing. Not satisfied.
