Worth it to a machinist.(08/03/2014)
I polished out a Para-Ordnance P-12 and wanted the traditional, "hammer-spur" look on the weapon. This casting was an easily machineable piece [I cut off the wide spur plus I wanted to give it the under cut hammer modification]. After machining, lapping the sear contact area and giving it a high polish, it dropped right in making the gun a handsome custom piece. The specs were accurate and it range fires fine. The only draw back is polishing out more casting marks than anticipated but I expected that with the price. A great buy for machinist type gunners.
John Masen Hammer:(04/02/2010)
A cast part. Rough surface, pitting, mold irregularities, uneven seams, deformed hammer hooks that could not be saved. Cost more to return than I paid for it. You get what you pay for. Spend the extra $$$$ and get a quality forged hammer.
ss hammer(01/05/2012)
fits well, looks good ,good price, works well
Pretty good, actually(09/07/2017)
This hammer came, and honestly, I expected an unusable part. This one is of good quality, and very usable. Hammer hooks are good, even the hammer strut hole was slightly bigger making hammer-swapping a little easier, the pin goes in nice and easy. Only gripe I have is the color of the steel is matte, and very dark. Goes OK with a stainless 1911. If you have a mil spec grip safety, you will have to modify, or install a beavertail grip safety.
Smith work required not a drop in part(23/12/2009)
Least expensive on the site. Manufacturer said it was a CNC part. Works great but required a lot of attention to the engaging surfaces. Very rough!
John Masen Hammer(04/02/2010)
Cast part with wide seams, rough finish, hammer hooks not square. Cost more to send it back than I paid for it. Now collecting dust on my bench.
Requires Fitting(25/09/2014)
This hammer works great as a government replacement hammer. The hooks are shaped in the arc of a circle, which looks really strange at first. However, when the hook height is dressed down to .020" and then the hooks faces dressed square, you end up with a nice hammer that works well. I suggest tuning the hammer using the 080-823-000WB Marvel Sear & Hammer Jig. If you want to learn how to do 1911 trigger jobs, this is a great practice hammer.
John Masen Cast Hammers:(04/02/2010)
Very rough casting, uneven seams, core-shift, deformed hammer hooks. Good hammer for a non-firing replica.
Did not function(03/01/2011)
Strut pin hole drilled .030" off so will not allow hammer to rotate when fully cocked.
