Wide notch for the aging eyesight(25/03/2011)
Typical Novak quality. I have two of these installed, one on a Colt Commander slide and the other on a Caspian Commander slide, both plain black wide notched. Using them in conjunction with tritium Novak fronts. These aging eyes appreciate the wider notch. Allows for quicker alignment.
Best Rear Sight(30/08/2009)
I have been using a Novak Lo-Mount for 20 years. I dropped the gun, refinished the old sight but ordered a new one. Milled slot from 20 years ago fit perfect. This new sight has a larger set screw and that is nice as the older small one could strip the allen slot in it. This is not needed if the dovetail is milled tight and correct. On a 1911 it does not have to be adjustable just get the windage and use a Novak front in the height needed or get the blank sight and mill it to your preference, i.e., ramp, undercut or whatever meets your needs. You just need a good smith or machinist on a verticle mill to do this.
