Excellent, this is a must have(02/07/2010)
uses include 3 gun, hunting, general range sighting in etc. This piece is a must have for your optic as you can take it off with a throw of the lever to go open sights if necessary. This piece is expertly machined and never once have I had to make any adjustments to anything, throwing it back on and that takes only seconds...not once out of dozens of times. Installation is a snap. No cons on this piece of equipment.
Also works with the 512(23/07/2010)
I currently own two of these. One for my 552, and one for my 512. No need to un-tighten and re-tighten the thumbscrew when you wish to remove the holo, just pull on the lever, and it's off. No need to remove your gloves when it's cold. (I'm from Canada - I know what I'm talking about!) When re-mounted, it zero's immediately.
Excellent product and extremely well made. Worth every penny!
Great piece of gear!(23/07/2015)
I have always been a fan of GG and G. This lever is why. I bought my first one in 2005 for a personally owned eotech, and another in 2007 for my issued ACOG. I use them on duty, and both have been on multiple deployments. The finish is worn off them from rubbing on my kit for ten years, but they haven't rusted and still hold zero. As long as you return the optic to the same slot and apply forward pressure on the optic as you close the lever, you will not have a zero shift. I swap between my EOTech and ACOG as needed and remove them for cleaning with complete confidence.
They don't protrude excessively and the loop is plenty big enough to stick your gloved finger into. Removal is very quick (important when your ACOG hangs over your back up rear sight preventing it from opening). I have tried those little levers from ARMS and Larue and they are much harder to manipulate. It's clamping force is adjustable, just be careful as over tightening it can damage your receiver's rail. I took a chunk out of a rail on one of my issued rifles once...
We AR guys spend a lot of money on gimmicks that just wind up in the parts bin. I am an infantryman and my gear takes a beating. I have also attached just about everything you can to a rifle. I have learned that many widgets either don't work, aren't worth the weight/get in the way, or aren't tough enough to haul around all day everyday. These levers work, weigh nothing, and have survived everything I have put them through. If you need them, they are a fantastic product. I have been eyeballing a shiny new EOTech. If I buy it, this will definitely be purchased with it.
