These work great! They feed well and cushion the firing pin well. They are a tad pricy especially for rifle calibers but they last forever. I wish they were brighter in colour for safety training. And some of the shraight walled case calibers break in funny because they head space on the neck. Other wise these are great

I use these in my FNH PBR and FAL rifles to work on trigger control and dry firing. Haven't had any sort of problem or issue after several years of use. They are aluminum and can wear if used as dummy rounds for function or feed testing. Use them as snap caps like they're designed and you'll get many years out of them too.

I got these for my Rem 700 so I can dryfire and work on bolt manipulation. They fit and feed in the magazine well enough, but only one of the four I received will extract. Dimensionally they're all the same size to the thousandth, so I'm not sure what the issue is. The rifle works fine with all the live and fired brass I've fed it.



I tested these in my AR to see if it was the cases, however the rifle and cases function as designed (feed and extract normally)

These are the best dummy rounds for dry practice. They will last for most of your practice life. They load and cycle exactly like premium ammo.

Used the 12 ga snap caps in Mossberg 500. Fed and function fine. Helps me practice mount, trigger pull and follow thru while at home in city. Buying a 2nd set so I can pump 4 thru.

I used these in a Winchester Model 1300 20 ga youth pump. Fed and functioned fine. I have bounced them off a wood floor a dozen times or so and saw no damage to rims, but suspect they will wear over time; everything that is used wears out... Used these to practice mount, trigger pull and cycling, while in-house in the city. Also facilitated debugging a tight action and some trigger issues. I am buying 2 more so we can cycle 4 thru the pump action, I've been shooting for 45 years or so, rifles, pistols and shotguns, and have used snap caps a lot to practice. Can practice at home in the city and helps you practice without recoil. I find this has improved my shooting and helps keep me sharp when I am not able to get to range... I spend a lot more time at home than at the range....

Bought these for extractor/feed ramp function testing on a 1911 build. The case rim on all of mine were smaller than a loaded .45 round and would not feed and consequently eject properly. Filled the magazine with live rounds and had no problem with extraction or ejection. The metal they are made out of is much softer than the extractor/ejector in your pistol and the case rims will get chewed up pretty bad with repeated use. If you are only looking for dummy rounds for dry fire these are good to go. Not so much for function testing

I bought 6 of these for rifle marksmanship training in the Appleseed Project. I use these for the "Ball & Dummie" drills. I mix in several of these into a 10 or 20 rd magazine, then have the student fire the course of fire (AQT) while I'm watching to see if she/he bucks or flinches. These dummie rds are perfect because they feed flawlessly every time. I've used them in M1A, AR-10s and clones, 7.62 Enfields and Savage rifles. The best training tool I have in my range bag. I wish they made these for 22 rimfire...yes, people do sometimes flinch while firing these too.

I've used both the A-zoom and those other plastic ones with the springs inside with my .45 and eventually the plastic-spring ones would get stuck as the false "primer" would get propelled into the case and stick in there.
I have a pair of the A-zoom in .223 and those have only the silicone shock-absorber "primer" so no danger of that type of malfunction.

The A-zooms fit and load perfectly in the Colt 6920 from all magazines (Colt, Magpul, Brownells) and never had a misfeed.

The one missing star would be justified if these had a brass or copper nose-section. My A-zooms get a bit nicked about 1/32" behind the point from hitting something, probably the rifle feed ramp on the way into the chamber.
A harder-than-aluminum "ballistic tip" would solve this wear issue and make these 5-star items. As it is, they are the best I know about, and though a bit expensive, will last a long time.

I received these snap caps in a most expeditious manner from Brownell's. They were exactly what I expected them to be and function as expected.

I use them primarily to check functioning of my SKS after maintenance and when doing the occasional dry fire. I have used snap caps before as a training aid to instruct others how to operate a firearm. This product will probably serve this role as well.

I've tried them all and the A-Zoom .45 Colt snap caps are the best quality on the market. Best of all, Brownells pricing is six bucks cheaper than the competition. I would highly recommend these to the cowboy shooters as well.

Great little product, very useful for test cycling pistols after reassembly or cleaning.
They are a little lighter than a standard live round and after mic-ing for size they are a little undersized compared to a few brands of ammo, but this has not been a problem.
Far superior to plastic caps which can jam or break while inside the mag or chamber. Definetly worth the few extra bucks over similar products!
My only complaint is that you do not get enough rounds(5) in the.380 package for the capacity of most pistols in that caliber...so you may want to order 2

My assumptions were correct about using them in a pump action. The rims chipped after cycling the action twice. The aluminum is hard, so that made them easily broken.

I'm sure they would be great for a break action or bolt action, but not a pump. I would recommend for break action guns.

Though these are considerably lighter in weight than a .45ACP round I still find them very practical to train with. Whether it be instruction, dry fire practice, or what not these are definitely a great choice if you're looking for snap caps.

These are durable enough to practice the more physical malfunction clearing drills that would normally cause problems, if not destroy, other snap caps (such as a stovepipe). Mine have scratched a little bit but their performance has maintained its consistency.

I got turned onto the 12ga model after a plastic snap cap of mine got stuck in the magazine tube and I had to take the shotgun apart to get it out. The plastic had basically indented and the magazine stop wedged into the rim. I've had nothing even remotely similar happen with the A-Zoom. These mimic the weight of an actual 12 ga round and I find are very practical to train with. Whether it be instruction, dry fire practice, or what not these are definitely a great choice if you're looking for snap caps.

What I like most about this snap cap is that the metal makes a distinct sound when chambered into your bolt action rifle. Anybody who has ever taken a sniper course knows that when you're racking the bolt quickly there is a tendency not to bring the bolt back far enough to pick up a new round from the magazine. This round lets me know instantly if I have made that mistake.

I have this Snap Cap in two other calibers (38/357 & AK47)besides 9mm version. Good Stuff. Feels and weighs close to live rounds, cycles and loads like live rounds. Bought two packages for multiple mag changes (speed and tactical reloads), malfunction clearing drills and of course dry fire practice. This is not plastic construction. Well made and sturdy.

These do everything I've asked of them. They work flawlessly in my Sako Finnbear and I've really noticed a difference in my trigger control after a few nights of using them. Also, due to them being red, there's no way to mix these up with a live round. Two thumbs way up for this product!

Has major issues with the round not ejecting after its first use. I tried using this on my M1A Scout and, as stated, the round either stays chambered or is partially ejected with the round clanging around inside the reciever. Not good.

the case head measures about 2/3 the thickness of an actual .308 casehead, which causes it to slip off of the extractor on my remington 700 before it is ejected.... just ends up rattling around inside the action.

the anodizing also quickly wears away at the case neck, bullet tip, and case head.

I've liked these in handgun calibers, due to their weight, but the .308 has disappointed me a bit.

I really like product. Feeds perfectly. great for practice dry fire.

These things are a great investment.

I love being able to practice my trigger pull without fear of damaging the firing pin. Perfect for teaching safe gun handling to new shooters - from loading, firing, and unloading. You can also mix them into the magazine with live ammo to catch your flinch or practice dud clearing. They cycle through my Beretta 92 just fine.

My only concern is they are undersized and certainly not "exact size of real ammo" as the box boasts. Measured with a caliper these are on average about .005" too small in most dimensions. When dropped into an empty chamber these will rattle around a little bit since they are undersized. However, they are a full .025" small around the deep cut for the extractor. With the slide closed in battery, the cut for the extractor on the snap cap is so deep that it does not show any red of the chamber indicator on the extractor of my Beretta 92.

Bought these after adding a side saddle to my 870 so that I could safely practice loding the shotgun in competition. Same size and weight as 2 3/4 shotshells

These are very well made snap caps, although the finish gets chewed up pretty darn easily. They probably are little smaller than the actuall round, but I haven't found that to be an issue. Overall: Thumbs up.

In terms of absorbing firing pin impacts, these do just fine and allow for safe and easy trigger practice anywhere. They are fairly durable, but the anodizing finish will get a bit chewed up fairly quickly. My biggest beef is that they are not made to true 9MM luger specs. The cartridge diameter is a tiny bit smaller than actual rounds. This can make them difficult to cycle in some guns as they will have a looser fit against the extractor. Once they get jammed, the hard steel slide and barrel chew up the soft aluminum dummys pretty quickly. Overall, they do their job, but may not feed and extract well in some guns.

I bought three packs of these for my cowboy guns (1873 Uberti, 2x Pietta Colt clones). The quality is way above any other snap caps I have ever used, they feel right and cycle smoothly. Great for practice sessions at home.

I've used these for months in my 1911 to practice trigger pull, magazine changes and malfunction clearance. They work great. The only drawback is the color. They come too close to matching the rug in the living room. lol

Purchased a set of .38 special snap caps and used in a .357 chambered revolver.. After 100's of dry fires, one of the snap cap rims broke off. Purchase caliber specific model for best results.

Helpful for dry firing drills or placing randomly in shooting partners magazines to help each other perfect our trigger pull (ie showing our flinching tendencies)

The caps are precision made, and function like real ammo. Great for checking feed and function.
