Excellent sight.(12/02/2013)
Very bright and visible, sharper than a fiber-optic bead. Easy to install on my Rem 700 ADL.
Beautifully Made.(24/02/2015)
I followed the installation directions (mostly), and had this sight mounted in under 30 seconds. It is beautifully made, and I installed it after filing with two passes to the bottom edge, using a "0" file.
The white line jumps out on all backgrounds and is easily seen even in a low light setting.
I will shoot it next month, after the snow melts.
best front sight for my Marlin(11/07/2015)
I've tried four front sights with an aperture rear sight on my Marlin 1894c:
- original brass colored bead
- Skinner black post
- Marbles fiber optic
- XS....
Of them all, I've found that the XS sight gives me the best precision and is second only to the fiber optic in visibility.
It also has clean lines that don't detract from a lever-gun's appearance (a fiber optic doesn't quite look right on an old-school gun).
And I like how only the post/blade itself extends above the dovetail slot, so there is nothing else cluttering up the sight picture.
My only complaint is that it was not a snug fit in the dovetail slot, and slide in and out way to easily. I ended up using tread lock to keep it in place.
XS post front sights are great(09/04/2016)
I keep a supply of these on hand. I have put them on Win. 94 30-30, Marlin 336 30-30, Marlin Camp Carbine .45, and an old Marlin bolt action tube fed .22 rifle. Match them up with Marble's Bullseye rear sight and you have a poor mans ghost right set up that is easy to install and inexpensive compared to the rest of the market. Great for low light, snap shooting, and moving targets. They are also easier on older eyes too.
Very Clear (27/07/2015)
I use this with a Williams Ace in the Hole peep sight on my 870 deer gun, works very well. The sight picture is much better than using a bead or fiber optic bead because of the constant thickness and white line vs the taper of the bead sight. I find it clearer since my vision isn't perfect anymore. It installed very easily no filing required.
