I couldn't complete my AR 15 assembly because the ejection port cover wouldn't close. The round, spring-loaded button would not depress when you tried to close the cover. I was able to push it in and out with a punch with a little force but there was something catching it. The profile was the same as other covers that I have. There was something irregular in the button's cavity that was preventing it to depress easily. Apparently when they grabbed this cover to do the etching they never checked it. I couldn't wait for another cover so I had to assemble my gun with the standard cover. Totally worthless.
does what its supposed to(25/11/2014)
Mine was fine and installed/worked without issue. I like being able to have my 300BLK upper easily marked without engraving. I had a similar issue with a Delton port cover that eventually wore in but the below QC issue is not what I would expect from Wilson (and while Brownells will take it back I say it is an inexcusable hassle).
Looks good, works well.(15/02/2015)
I was a little worried buying one after reading the first negative review below. I took a chance and bought it knowing Brownells solid reputation and the part being a Wilson Combat.
Finish is great, no scuffs or dings. The latch worked well. Looks like they were cerakoted as oils seem to bead off.
I like two identical uppers of different calibers so having them labeled makes life easier in identifying them apart. It would be nice if they came out with other cool etchings.
dust cover(23/02/2016)
The overall finish is nice, the marked caliber added a nice touch to the rifle as well makes it useful if you have several in that platform to distinguish them but won't function as it won't stay closed due to the button/latch doesn't extend far enough
not vivid, gritty retainer(24/06/2016)
the lettering is kind of hard to see unless you really look at it, I have a picture I was going to upload but even at max resolution it won't show. In some situations this may appeal to you. I'm a recreational shooter however and wanted this because my lower is marked multi. Its also gritty and tough to pop open, I hope that doesn't effect operation. I suspect it will loosen up a little after oiling and using. We'll see.
