The best receiver "wobble" fix!(13/02/2014)
These shims are the best fix for receiver wobble. No need to "accu-wedge" or o-ring your upper. This will make it solid and they are discreet. Buy with confidence. Fix the pesky wobble.
slop(21/02/2016)
I bought this product after seeing it in learning section of the website. I am currently a full time police officer/firearms instructor and have wasted thousands of dollars on gimmicks and other bs products that claim to get rid of every problem you have with your rifle. At my department we are all assigned an individual m4 carbine that is ours. We are also allowed to make slight modifications within reason and this is only on the ouside not internally in the gun. Ive been assigned the same m4 for ten years now and have tens of thousands of rounds through it from training, personal training, attending brass maker carbine classes, and annual qualifications. My point, my rifle has some wear and tear on it. It is a bushmaster (old school rifle actually made in the Windham, Maine plant before Freedom group bought them out.) This was a $600 rifle when I bought it. Its not a $2,000 rifle. It has gone the distance and then some and rarely, I mean rarely had a malfunction which has been due to ammo everytime.
So from this wear and tear Ive never had to replace buffer springs, gas tubes, etc. Ive only cleaned it and stayed up on it. However this brings to me to my point. My upper and lower have considerbale play in them. There's some slop. I tried the accuwedge from Brownells which did do a good job of getting rid of the rear slop however I still had front slop. I tried the accuwedge in another rifle build I have which got rid of all the slop. The rifle I built was brand new and didn't have any of the wear and tear on it my duty rifle did. So at first I tried one shim on both take down and pivot pins. Didn't take all of the slop out but most of it. So I then tried two shims on each pin. It was so tight I couldnt lock the upper and lower together. After some quick research I ended up going with an accuwedge in the rear by the buffer and two shims on the pivot pin. Worked like a charm. Rifle feels brand new. It doesn't move like a cerokoted rifle. Again, my rifle doesn't move at all. There is zero slop. This was done all for the cost of the $20. Brownells accuwedge is a great addition to any rifle. Get it along with the shims. You wont be sorry. Also becareful of reviews. Some people aren't intelligent enough to actually be assembling these rifles. i WOULD RECCOMEND THIS TO A FRIEND AND EVERYONE. HERES A HINT BROWNELLS. YOU SHOULD SELL YOUR ACCUWEDGE WITH THE RECIEVER SHIMS AS PART OF A PACK DEAL.
Works(16/01/2017)
As noted by others, the shims in this pack are all the same width and takes patience to install. Otherwise, they work as advertised. I added 2, one to each side of my front pivot pin, and the receiver "wobble" was gone. Also, opening and closing the receiver with the shims installed were not a problem. I would've given this product 5-stars had different shim widths been supplied versus being all the same.
