AR-15 barrel nut shim kit allows you to index the barrel nut so you have perfect barrel nut / gas tube as well as top rail alignment, within the recommended barrel nut torque ranges. Shims can be used individually or combined to get the desired thickness. Kit comes with (2) .001", (2) .003", and (1) .007" thick shims. The shim fits between the barrel extension and the barrel nut. FANTASTIC PRODUCT - GET SOME NOW!(21/02/2017)
I will never be without these in my armorers kit again. Installing barrel nuts to optimal torque with proper clocking/indexing for gas tube/op rod clearance has almost always been a compromise, time consuming, and a job I've rarely been 100% pleased with until now. Over/undertorquing affects accuracy and if you're using mil-spec barrel nuts, getting the teeth to line up properly can be a real chore. No more. Now, follow your barrel/barrel nut installation procedure and torque the barrel nut to desired torque. When you're satisfied the threads have taken a set, if the nut isn't aligned (they usually aren't), simply remove the nut, select a shim or combination of shims and slide it/them over the barrel against the barrel shoulder. When you have the proper thickness combination, put final torque on the nut and you're done, proper torque, proper clocking, no guesswork. Just like solid washers to index a muzzle device. No affect on headspace. Cuts this part of the job to a few minutes. Best thing to happen in AR armoring in years - some simple steel shims.
Great value(11/05/2017)
These work perfectly as a barrel shim for an FN-FAL to correct barrel timing and have saved my butt on a few occasions.
