Great for cleaning or working on guns

I use this mat as a general desk mat, cleaning mat, workbench mat, automotive mat, and just about anything not listed above mat. It is indestructable. The only problem is that small brass bristles from gun bore brushes are hard to clean off. Other than that, it is easy to clean off. Mine is still going after 4 months and no wear insight. Now that my workshop is built, time to get several more.

Backing melts (17/01/2012)

I had high hopes for this mat but I cannot recommend it. Certain solvents cause the rubberized backing to melt/bubble. The fuzz fabric on the other side catches all kinds of small debris (like chore boy and bronze brush pieces) and it is nearly impossible to get them out. Would be ok to assemble/disassemble but don't use it for cleaning. Very disappointed.

Great mat (03/08/2014)

I received this mat when I attended the AR 15 Armorer's course at Brownells. I have to say, after a year, I'm still loving it. It keeps parts from scratching, solvents from penetrating, and cleans easily. Yes, brass brushes will stick to it but there's an easy solution to that problem.

This product is just the right size for a variety of small projects. It also continues to roll out flat after it has been stored for a while - a great feature. Would absolutely recommend it for professional or hobbyist.
