Must own!(16/09/2010)
If you have any intrest in fighting with a AR type platform this book is a must have.
A Keeper(14/06/2012)
A lot of good content on running and caring for the AR15. I bought it when I was running an AK and it was still full of good info even though it's oriented towards the AR15 platform.
Most books and videos are given away after reading / watching, this one has stayed on the shelf and I do review it from time to time.
Kyle is a perfection of fundamentals type and that really is all "advanced" skills are, fundamentals performed at a higher level. He did a great job of covering the important things to running the gun and writes in a direct manner to get the info out without dragging on.
Excellent Carbine Book(12/09/2012)
I first saw this book while acting as an instructor, and found it useful then. I picked up my own copy a while ago and found it incredibly useful.
It covers employment of modern carbines, provides plenty of photographs of shooting positions and styles, and gives a lot of easy-to-understand information, helpful to the tactical shooter, military, law enforcement, home-defense or competition shooter. There also is some useful info in there for hunters who go after quarry that reacts quickly, as some of the techniques can be adapted from hunting the most dangerous game to other kinds.
The only flaws I found were that the author doesn't cover left-handed applications of the M4 family of rifles in the most efficient manner. Given the book is a couple years old, and techniques have improved even more, there are a few things that have changed. While not a lefty myself, I've done enough off-hand transition drills to see that GEBR is missing a few practical applications of that.
For someone looking at getting the most out of their carbine, this is a great book to go to. The few flaws (left-handed stuff, and a couple other minor things) aren't enough to have much impact on the good info in the book.
