Makes a big difference.
It fits the Knoxx SpecOps stocks for Rem 870 and if you don't mind it sticking out on the sides [very little], you don't even have to grind it.
it does what it says(23/02/2011)
this is the second grind to fit i have bought. it gets a 4 b/c the installation takes time if you do it correctly. but its worth the time! the included instructions are a helpful, but you dont have to have a grinding jig to fit it. you do need a good eye for angles and lines. i will buy another one when the need arises.
Limbsaver pads work(11/12/2009)
I have tried every pad on the market and these work. They don't look as good as a Pachmier leather faced pad but for taming recoil they're much better. Thank you for a great product. Yours Bruce
Limbsaver grid to fit pad(01/04/2010)
The product works well. The only problem is that in sanding the pad to fit, the finish is difficult to get smooth.
I sand to rough fit on a 60 grit 4" wide bemch belt sander, to hog it off. I then remove the pad and finish up with a ~100 grit 1" wide bench vertical sander. Takes extra effort but the two step sanding improves look a lot. Reduces the "chatter".

They are a little more difficult to get a good finish. Allow for a little more time on the install. On limb saver's web site you can download templates to see if a certain pad will fit.
10542 Limb Saver MED Grind to Fit Pad(21/08/2013)
Good pad a little harder to work than some of the others. Use plenty of wd-40 while grinding it and should not have any issues. If you want to round off the edges use another brand.
Not Very Good(01/12/2014)
Having worked with many types of recoil pads I am not happy with this one. The Limbsaver Pre Fit pads work great but the grind to fit do not shape well. The fiber glass base does not grind down well or finish nice and the rubber is to soft for shaping. A pre-fit pad I would use LimbSaver but a grind to fit I would look at a different manufacturer.
good for shorter stocks(17/02/2011)
I have a short barrel 12ga Remington 870, I cut the butt stock down 1.5 inches to better fit with my body armor, but that reduces the dimensions of the butt pad area. this small pad was the closest to the new dimensions. it was easy to fit and really helps to tame the full power slugs and buck shot that I use. bird shot is almost like a 5.56 rifle recoil.
Not As Hard As You Think(21/08/2011)
I have an early 1970's Universal M-1 Carbine that I was giving to my teenage daughter. To try to make the gun as user friendly as possible, I wanted to put a LimbSaver recoil pad on but all were way too big. So I reluctantly ordered the small size grind to fit expecting it to be a big mess. With a belt sander, WD-40 and 4 hours over few nights, the recoil pad looks custom made. I would not hesitate to do another one.
