Spring loaded, longer hammer noses provide a consistent, positive ignition with the lightest hammer tension allowing for a lighter, smoother action. Manufactured by wire EDM and CNC precision milling processes, with quality controlled heat treated from S7 tool steel. The hammer noses are machined, not stamped. Designed to be tough and provide a long service life. This kit includes hammer nose, spring and hammer nose rivet. Generally, normal replacement is all that's needed , though some factory variations may require minor fitting. Designed for Smith & Wesson centerfire models, K, L and N.
SPECS: Machined from S7 tool steel. For S&W K, L and N models.

Almost A Drop In(17/10/2015)
My Model 27 S&W was misfiring. I bought this to cure light primer strikes.
My first attempt to fit it into the hammer it was too tight. Some kind of finish or coating. I took a 4-1/2" hand file and filed the two surfaces to bright metal. Fit like it was made for it.
The Youtube videos showing how to do this were right on. I did however, have to sacrifice my 1/16" transfer punch to drive out the pivot pin. All else went according to the video.
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend, but only if he was having light primer strikes with an N frame S&W.
All six fire, load after load. It was worth the money.
Misfire problem solved.(02/11/2015)
I have a recently acquired nearly unfired 1971 vintage model 19-3 that was misfiring (1 in 6) with 357 Magnum ammunition featuring CCI 550 primers, even when the DA trigger weight was increased to 10 lbs using a primer cup on the strain screw. Checking the hammer nose projection showed it was about 0.02 inch short of the thickness of a Dime. So, the obvious conclusion is that the Bangor Punta vintage hammer nose was just a bit short.
Since parts for these older models can be difficult to find I decided to try the Power Custom hammer nose for a post 1988 lockwork. The new hammer nose dropped right in and needed no fitting at all. The projection is a bit on the heavy side, about 0.06 inch per my calibrated eyeball but a 150 round test in both double and single action showed no indication at all of an overstruck primer and there were zero misfires in that test.
Kudo's to Power Custom for the instruction/guidance that was packaged with the kit. While I didn't need to do any fitting it was nice to see they provided clear illustrations of the fitting points. It was also helpful to see clear instructions on how it should function and how to test for correct function.
Based on my single sample test I think it is actually fairly safe to assume that this particular hammer nose will fit K frame hammers from 1971 to later vintages. I also think that the tensioning spring will act to protect the hammer nose a bit when compared to the older version.
it didn'work(07/08/2016)
Installed in a mod 66-1 S&W. tried lighten DA trigger pull. Installation was easy,no problems. Test fired ,3 misfires out of 6 DA, 1 out of 6 SA. Tried factory ammo, same results. Removed new firing pin, measured and compared with old,and no differences. Reinstalled old firing pin,no further problems. First time Power Custom has let me down.
