Not Worth the Money.(28/03/2017)
Well I Finally got my 50 cal cleaning rod. Only a 3 week back order. Now I can clean my 50 for the first time and get down to breaking in the barrel. Nope that isn't going to happen.
The rod is a two piece rod with 12-28 NF treads, The threads are cut on one end great and thread into the adapter as designed. the other end, well that's a different story. Threads into the rod extension about 1/8th turn and locks up. Its not the extension because you can turn it a round and it threads fine. Must have been a shift change. I cleaned up the first thread with a needle file got another 1/8th turn It was shipped in a nice box with lots of packing with plastic thread protectors. It wasn't damaged in shipment.
If you get this rod make sure you get a bunch of adapters, because the 50 cal bore brushes are 10-32 and the chamber brushes are 8-32.
Dewey rods are great!(18/11/2011)
I was at first hesitant to spend [$] on a cleaning rod, but after using it for a while, I've found it to be WELL worth the money. Is it needed for the once a year hunter? Probably not, but if you value your firearms, I think you owe it to yourself to get a good one-piece rod along with a bore guide. The only negative I can find is that if you lose the adapter, you can only use Dewey jags, but it's not a big deal in my mind. Depending on your space, the length could be a problem, but it's not a huge deal.
