no wonder its cheap(26/07/2012)
when i was new to reloading i received this scale with my kit. i thought maybe i just couldnt get it to read right. so i called lee and spoke with them about it( they were really trying to be helpful and were very polite). bought another brands scale and had no issues (redding).just recently tried it again now that im more experianced with the same inaccurate results.
This scale is worthless(28/08/2012)
Difficult to setup and use. Fluctuates, inaccurate. Save your money and buy another brand. I bought this for my son to help him setup his own relaoding bench and when I tried to use it I appoligized to him and ordered a RCBS scale. I have been reloading for 48 years and have used lots of Lee products, dies, pressed, progressive loaders and there powder measures but this scale is worthless.
You Get What You Pay For(13/07/2013)
I feel like a broken record when I speak about Lee products (with the exception of their single-stage presses) when I keep saying "You get what you pay for!" Luckilly, I didn't pay much for this, lol!
Inexpensive, accurate and reliable(06/09/2013)
I've been using the Lee powder Safety Scale since 1992 and have found it easy to use, extremely accurate and totally reliable.
When I reload, I weigh every load and I have complete confidence that the load I weigh is accurate. I even tested the weights of measured loads against a laboratory scale and found the Lee weights to be "spot on."
One thing I learned early on is that this scale is extremely sensitive...so much so that it will react to the slighest breeze. Therefore, I cannot load near an air conditioner vent or with a fan blowing because the scale will never settle into balance. This, however, is a good thing because the scale will react to the weight of even one flake of powder and that's what you want if you're loading maximum loads.
I make it a habit to recalibrate the scale at the beginning of every loading session because changes in temperature or humidity can cause the scale to lose its calibration. That's to be expected with an instrument that is as sensitive as this one. It's easy to recalibrate by setting the slide to zero, hanging on the empty powder basket then rotating a thumb screw until zero is achieved. The only complaint I have(and it's very minor) is that there is no way to lock the thumb screw making it remotely possible to brush it and lose calibration when adjusting the slide. That being said, I have never had that happen in the thousands of loads I have weighed with this scale, probably because the thumb screw is well protected by the scale's beam.
I find this scale to be one of the best values of all of my reloading equipment and typical of the quality and value of Lee products.
perfect scale(03/10/2013)
It Works perfect, I read so many bad reviews from this product, but order it anyway, Im very happy, is very accurate, easy to use scale. great Price product.
Most accurate(10/10/2013)
If you want a scale that settles quickly because it isn't accurate to 1/20 of a grain like this one then dont buy this scale. This scale is so accurate that it is a bit hard to "settle" but if you keep it away from fans and don't ham hand it, it will load the most accurate of any scale. I have had one for 15 years and it is still as accurate as the day I bought it, in fact it is designed that unless the bar is broken, it will be perfect. This scale gets a bad rap from people who are used to fast "production" type scales that may vary 1/2 grain or more, but if you test this scale against all the rest and against a certified standard test weight, you will see that none of the others are as accurate at any price. I own many scales of different manufacture, and I can afford any scale I want, but when I want to load those perfect, show off at the range, 5 shots touching, loads, I use this scale to do it.
Good value(26/06/2014)
Use to confirm powder drop dispenser; and to weigh each load of rifle charges mostly with SR4759 powder. This scale reflects the change of the addition or subtraction of one single grain of powder. Logically, that's as accurate as one can use for reloading.
Had no problems with this scale, at all. Not a status symbol, just a good accurate scale at a bargain price.
