Helps a basic measure be more uniform.(07/04/2014)
I find this product a very inexpensive valuable upgrade.
The down side is you need to build or create a contraption to remove it for cleaning when changing powders. Or you could just unscrew the powder measure from its mount and dump it upside down and let it fall out.
It is kind of a mystery why this item is not included with the measure.
Solves powder flow issues(27/10/2015)
As a picky reloader, I try to exclude as many variables as possible from my reloading so that I am consistent across the board with my ammunition. By keeping the gravity feed pressure constant on the metering unit, the powder baffle allows more uniform powder charges. It also can help to keep powder (flake especially) from forming small clumps in humid weather.
The baffle has a hole in the center where the powder drains through. When you are done with that particular powder, or desire to remove the baffle for any reason, you can make an "L" shaped hook and lift the baffle out. As one reviewer pointed out, perhaps it should come with one, but a piece of 10 gauge copper wire solved the matter for me.
Great powder measure(09/02/2011)
I have had this measure for a long time. It does ball powder perfectly, not even a .05 grain variance. Extruded powders, and pistol flake powders are almost always within .1 grain up or down.
My Recommendation(21/01/2012)
I've been using one of these for years and swear by it. I've also used measures that cost twice as much, and this does the same job.
Excellent, but NOT for pistol as-sold(24/09/2012)
RCBS sells two versions of the Uniflow, one for rifle and one for pistol. HOWEVER, Brownells only sells the one with the rifle cylinder, and that is bad news for pistol reloaders, since charges down around 4 grains and less become increasingly variable. A charge setting for 3.5 grains will throw from 3 to 4 grains.
Size matters!(01/02/2012)
First, this item comes in two sizes, 0.500 and 0.685 diameter. This ad doesn't tell you which size you're getting. They both cost the same.
Second, the micrometer insert has been a great addition to my Uniflo Powder Measure. There has been a slight amount of trouble measuring very small powder charges, such as for a .380 Auto, a 9mm Luger, or a .38 Special. The Uniflo doesn't like such a small volume above the insert. There is also the standard problem of measuring flake powder by volume instead of by weight, but you'll get that problem in any volume powder dispenser.
I should have bought this baby much sooner!
