S47 Ruger Vaquero Grips(14/01/2014)
I purchased these for my Ruger 41c. Blackhawk. With a slight bit of adjusting they fit perfectly. I do believe that the listed description is misleading though. It says the grips are for the Vaquero. Nowhere does it say they will fit the Blackhawk. Please address this. Gun enthusiasts who are not in the know would be confused.
LOOKS GOOD BUT NO CIGAR(26/06/2011)
BOUGHT THESE GRIPS FOR AN XR-3 VAQUERO. THEY FIT AT AN ANGLE AND LOOK LIKE IT TOO. YOU WOULD HAVE TO USE A LOT OF EPOXY TO FILL IN THE GAPS SO THEY WOULD BE SQUARE TO YOUR FRAME.
Would not buy any of their products(25/12/2013)
Bought first pair right grip didn't fit frame. Bought second pair didn't fit frame so returned them and tried a third pair. Tried to fit to the Vaquero myself; too far off couldn't make them fit. Poor quality control. Wouldn't recommend at all with three tries of the same product.
Very good grip panel(22/01/2017)
Great vintage stile grip. Quality is very good . Fit well , but wider than walnut. Replaced trigger springs as well. Smooth, looks, good. Hard to find, I am pleased. Other review not fair to mfg. Or Brownells.
Checkered grips(25/03/2017)
Good price. Nice very fine checkering on grip. Biggest complaint is that the inside of grip is flat (no inner platform to keep grips from shifting if they loosen up). Does need some minor fitting. Would be more prone to recommend other grips I have/use to friends
Good Quality(02/10/2017)
Apparently, Pietta changed the size of the frame on the 58 NA .44. Mine was made in 1977 and the grips are smaller than the OEM replacement grips made now, by at least 15%. So major fitting is required if you own an older model. Mine is a 1858 Stainless Steel New Army .44 with 8" barrel model year 1977 [AC].
Iâve found that the grips needed a little reworking. A little fine sandpaper and smooth the rough edges.
The grips inside are flat and as mentioned before they tend to âslipâ . For me it was an easy fix with the sharp end of some picture frame screws Iâve made pins on the inside that work great. And yes they hold very steady.
The grips were ordered on a Monday and I got them by Friday. Very quick delivery compared to order summary.
"New Vaquero" Grips (Poor Quality & Fit)(04/11/2010)
The price and Stag look of these grips are what sold me. However, the fit is terrible on them. I truly wish that I would have just sent them back but, after 3 hours of filing the edges and filling the locating holes with epoxy and re-drilling them to optimize the fit, I was determined to get them to fit only to find out that the mounting screw holes didn't match up either and the screw that they give you is not long enough to even work. Porous holes in grips wavy edges & back mounting surfaces with defects and dents on edges. One Star is to much for these but it's the min. Sorry
Not so good,,,(12/02/2016)
When I was fitting them they smelled like solvent or paint thinner,,and they are soft, very soft, wasn't cured maybe? will not tighten up on the gun,,screw tries to pull though . you can push it back though ,,,like they are made of gummy bears,,, Horrible ..
Not as good as I expected(05/05/2014)
The fit of these grips on the Pietta 1858 Remington was less than good. At the top, both grip panels are a good 3/16th's short and don't reach the top of the frame. Behind the trigger guard, at the top they were too long and further down a 16th too narrow, exposing the frame and the back strap were too wide. I thought maybe the indexing pin hole was a little off, not the case. The grip screw had to be shortened 1/16th to keep from gouging my hand.
not even a matched set(12/07/2014)
The two sides of the grip didn't even match. One was a quarter inch longer than the other, so they clearly were made wrong. Even worse, the only one close to the right size didn't match the frame at all, so hoping that another set would match was worthless. These got sent back.
inexpensive improvement(02/11/2014)
i've installed a number of these on my pietta '58s, and they look great. they take some fitting, but the price is right!
DO NOT BUY(18/04/2017)
If there was a "0 star" I would have given it. These grips don't even come close to fitting. One side didn't even have the hole drilled for the pin. The worst part....I had to pay to send them back!!!
Uberti Model P grips(25/03/2017)
Great value for the price. Good looking grips, Easy to install, ridge on interior side of grip panels help prevent the grip from slipping if it loosens up. Would buy again.
Great Deal(16/01/2014)
This is my second ordering from Brownell and I am completely satisfied. This order was for the Colt STAG hand grips for my Colt Army SSA and will make it look really nice. Thanks a lot, Bruce TX
Somewhat Pleased(03/03/2016)
They look great on my Colt 1873 SAA 7 1/2" 3rd generation but like all of these types of grips they do not fit as good as the should. The packed they came in said 1st generation so that could the reason why. Another thing is while trying to tighten them so they would not shift back and forth, the retainer in the right side of the grip was pulled through and I had to use a light coating of Gorilla Glue in the hole before using a dowel rod to force it back in from the outside of the right grip. I hope others do not experience this problem.
Poor fit(21/06/2016)
Front of grip is does not match Colt SAA frame. leaves frame exposed. No amount of fitting would make this grip fit properly ... not thick enough.
Don't buy for New Vaquero(11/09/2010)
The sepc says these fit new small frame Vaqueros made in 2005 and later. They do not. They fit old large frame Vaqueros. Quality is poor as well
Don't get confused(11/03/2011)
Confused. Could not distinguish that these grips will not fit the new vaquero. Add needs to be more specific. They are cheap and they look cheap.
Really Awful(23/03/2011)
Really awful quality, not up to Brownell's usual standards. Stay away.
Poor Quality(25/10/2016)
Very poor quality of resin. The right panel was warped and no hardware installed in the grip to install a screw . I thought about truing them up , but the material is of very poor quality and decided to send them back , keep in mind this is the only thing I have ever returned to Brownells .
Okay but alittle soft(21/01/2011)
Okay but alittle soft. Be careful how much you tighten
Ruger Bisley Grip Evaluation(03/11/2017)

"Minimal work for fitting well"(16/03/2012)
The Grips come perfectly groved for a Ruger Super Black Hawk. I fitted this grips on a United Sporting Arms "Seville" cal.357 I Bought in 1974, because of the oversize grips. The groves were naturally in the wrong place, but with some minor measurements of the groves on each side and pin hole. I was able, in about 20 minutes file the new grips groves, shift the pin hole to conclude with a perfect fit. The only aspect of the Stag Grips, that concerned me was that the carvings of the stags were to big and to deep in the grips. Everything else was ideal. "They Look Great".
