Piece of junk (24/07/2014)

This scope mount is not easy to install, requires lots of hammering on your rifle. Really hard to get mount to align straight over top of barrel, mount cants to the left and is really hard to get in place. Once in place doesn't give great site picture on the iron sites. Having complete buyers remorse, wish I could return this piece of metal I have sitting around now with Springfield armory stamped on the side. Wasted money. Buy a different mount for your M1A, this one is junk.

Great mount. (09/01/2017)

This scope mount through Springfield Armory is great, solid and well designed. Although I needed to use a triangle file to adjust the clearance on the dove tail of the replacement stripper clip guide (as directed in the instructions) the installation was very simple and as long as you have common gunsmithing knowledge. Instructions say that once you install the mount on your rifle, per step by step instructions, it will only work for the rifle you installed it on. Mounted a Vortex Viper HS LR 6-24x50 FFP on it, couldn't be happier.

Love this mount. (22/05/2017)

This mount did take some basic gunsmith skills but with the correct tools, this project took less than 45mins from start to finish. Locks up solid with no play and holds zero without issue. I like to remove the mount on occasion and when I so the scope returns to zero within 1 MOA. I would recommend this mount to anyone looking for a solid lighter aluminum option that holds zero like the steel version.
