Brownells USA Good Stuff for the South! 06/09/2017

I really like to use grease where I'm located. I've tried oil, but in the heat of the South, I've found most oils (even reportedly "quality" oil lubricants) just don't last long. They either run or disappear (burn off is my assumption). I like grease for this reason but it can get gummy in some instances and doesn't work well when we get the occasional "cold spell". That said, I purchased a bottle of this to round out an order and have really liked it. Consistency is similar to maple syrup when it goes on so it's almost a cross between oil and grease. So far in the heat it's done GREAT. It does get thinner, but seems to stay put and continue lubricating. I've used it on AR's and pistols of various sorts. All have run very well with it. Come winter and those very occasional "cold spells", we'll see if it gums up like traditional grease or does ok. If you live in the South, I'd suggest trying it for the price. I probably wouldn't order just this product and pay for shipping, but adding it to an order wouldn't be too bad. As for colder climates, your mileage may vary.

Brownells USA Grease, Wilson Combat, Temperature Range 27/12/2015

FYI,

The label lists the optimum temperature range as, "150 degrees to 45 degrees", which didn't specify negative or positive; Celsius or Fahrenheit. For some reason, I am used to seeing the lower temperature listed first, then the higher (hotter) temperature listed second.

I can tell you from personal experience this grease was too thick at 32 degrees F to allow my SIG P225's slide to fully cycle. Adding some oil to the rails while at the outdoor range immediately cured that problem.

Otherwise, grease should be a bit thick (or it wouldn't be grease), just mind the temperature range for the environment you'll be in.
