couple minutes to put on and much less expensive than the one piece mainspring housing and mag well. looks good on the gun too.
Para magazines beware!!!(25/03/2015)
Gun smithing required which was to be expected for the EZ Loader but what I wasn't expecting was for my magazines not to fit in once installed. I have a Para Expert with factory magazines that wouldn't seat in the gun because the base pad would hit the mag well. So after I dremelled the base of my magazines it works but I hope in the future other magazines will work without the modifications. If I could do it again I would spend the money on a magwell/mainspring combo.
Wilson SS EZ-Loader(20/01/2016)
At first I wasn't sure if I would like it but once it was installed onto my Stainless SA GI 1911-A1, I love it! I polished it to match the gun and it looks great. Works great with my Wilson Combat mags! Makes mag changes smoother. A good value if you're on a tight mod budget and it's not ridiculously large like some other mag well products.
**Cheaper alternative than standard magwells.**Easy to install.**NEED TO MODIFY THE GRIP PLATES WITH A DREMEL.**BETTER when use with extended pad magazines.**Perfect match with Wilson combat 47DE magazines.
Great magwell(10/02/2017)
I have installed these on several work pistols. Kimbers and Colts. All fit well and there are no problems. you can use magazines with no bumpers but you must ensure that the magazine seats but bumpers make that job easier. the ONLY problem I ever had on an install was on a new kimber. the bushings for the grip screws have changed on a kimber and there is less of a flat for the hooks to latch onto...but it can be done...just got to take an extra minute to be sure the hooks are on the flat and not the taper.
not a problem on a Colt.
Nice fit(12/07/2009)
Easy to install and nice tight fit. I like this one as it is slim and can still be carried concealed. You do need to install bumpers on your mags.
Quailty Product, and easy to Install.(14/09/2010)
I installed this on my SA MC Operator, it is a very easy to install piece of gear. Take off the grips, place the "hooks" of the Magwell over the grip screw bushings, re install the grips and that is all. Great price, practical, and allows for smoother reloads. I couldn't be happier. I will have one of these on all of my 1911's.
nice and tight(22/05/2011)
This is a great magwell and is easy to install, I installed it on my springfield loaded and the only thing i did was shave the inside of the grip a little so that the grips dont rest on the magwell, and rest on the frame instead, this product is a good bang for your buck and speeds up the reloading process significantly.
Pretty cool for the money...(10/06/2011)
Bought 2, installed them. Bought 2 more, installed them and bought 2 more and installed them and today I'm buying 2 more. Put 6 on my 1911's and 2 on the little ladies 1911's.
EASY, easy to install.
BUT I chose NOT to carve up the inside of the grips to compensate for the thickness of the "arm" and just left the less then 1/16" gap at the bottom. Doesn't bother me at all. But those of you with more esthetic principals then myself will find installing these slightly more work and a higher degree of difficulty. What with you then having to carve out material from the inside of each grip to compensate for the thickness of the "arm" that will allow your grip to fit flat against the frame at the bottom.
But these, in my opinion, do add double/triple the cost of the part to the value of the 1911. If I choose to sell the 1911 I can sell with the magwell or remove it and reuse it.
Thanks, keep shooting and VOTE next election.
looks great(08/11/2011)
I put this on a compition pistol it small but realy helps. I like that it is small in this case.it was very easy to install
perfect fit(17/11/2011)
I just received mine yesterday(only 3 days from Ia. to NJ.) Easy to put on my Kimber and it looks like it came with the firearm. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because ya have to sand some material from your grips in order to make them fit flush but that's to be expected.
easy(06/07/2012)
installed on my 1911 and what a difference in loading. makes loading a fresh mag a snap! and its affordable too. if your 1911s mainspring housing has a lanyard loop, it will need to be removed or replace your mainspring housing,if you dont mind that, then this mag-well is worth it. although it is easy to install, during firing, it tends to "walk" back on your grip screws and needs to be pushed forward again periodically but for the price, i cant complain. great little part. thanx brownells
Nice fit(16/04/2013)
Perfect for you 1911 to get it a little help on the reloads. Fits well and stays solid, even in competition. Grips must be modified slightly to accept.
Not for Rock Island Armory 1911 2011 Tac(21/11/2013)
EZ loader is too narrow for RIA 1911. The hooks that should fit around the grip screws are misplaced for this gun. In trying everything to adjust this piece, the metal finally fatigued and it broke. It cannot be made to fit. I have used other Wilson Combat parts in this 1911, and they fit fine.
Good for the price(08/12/2013)
Good quality overall, only had one problem... the right hook was a few thousands of an inch to small and would NOT go over the grip screw inlet. I had to file a bit to get it to fit correctly, other than that its a great product and speeds up reloads considerably... especially when the adrenaline is pumping and small motor skills go out the window!
BE WARNED!!! You need to file down and hand fit your grips to work with this product, otherwise your grips will be hanging over the frame! Also... you need to use magazines with bumper extensions otherwise good luck getting your mags seated properly! *does not work with some magazines*
Get the speed chute(21/01/2014)
I got these and with my stock grips it was still loose. So I took this to my gunsmith and he professionally installed it. After he custom carved the grips and refitted the hooks it was ok but still loose. Finally I just had him drill at tap in a roll pin to hold it in place. It ended up costing me 140 bucks. I really wish I would have just gotten the auto speed chute and been done with it.
