Quality sight, but...(21/10/2009)
This sight is well made, good quality with nice fit and finish. It fits my AR good and works great. My only complaint is that the adjustment knob is too big. You really need to flip the sight up before you can charge your gun, or the sight gets in your way. An adjustment more like on a Troy sight would be nice.
CHEAP!(15/11/2009)
Work well for the first 3 times I used it. Then it just fell off in the middle of shooting one day. I lost some of the parts in the grass, and it is cheaper just to buy a new one.
I recomend magpul's MBUS. It has less moving parts, is simple, and a lot more durable.
Slightly Below Average(02/08/2012)
The Midwest Industries MCTAR ERS is slightly below average in terms of flip-up iron sights. On the positive side, this BUIS has thick metal ears does give the user an "A2" style sight picture and is made of thick metal. The adjustment knob is large and easy to use as well. The problems I had with this sight mainly revolved around the pin that locks the folding portion of the sight into the upright position. This pin wears down the aluminum around it, and after flipping it up and down a few times the wear was already noticeable. This weak point is also noticeable when the user adjusts the dial and the folding portion of the sight moves in the direction of the adjustment rather than staying still. Lastly this sight's aperture appeared canted on when transfered for one rifle to another. While I found this sight to be roughly adequate, and preferable to no BUIS at all, the design has noticeable flaws. Perhaps if this sight was $40 or less it would be a good deal, but for what it costs there are far better options available.
