Dewey offers quality customer support(07/02/2017)
Great product from a great American product. Has a relatively minor problem with the rod. Sent Dewey an email and they quickly resolved the problem to my satisfaction without charge. Quality company.

sturdy cleaning rod(30/10/2009)
Cleaning rifles both in shop & at the range. Dependable - I own 3 more in other calibers! No problems
Quality. You Know it when you see it.(30/07/2010)
Well, you can always walk into your average gunshop and ask for a "no brand" item. That's what I did today, and that's when I saw that the Dewey cleaning rod was no ordinary item. Dewey just brought gun cleaning products to a new quality level, and you just don't know it until it's side by side with "another cleaning rod". In short, it's a great product, well thought and well executed.
Should've bought it a long time ago(16/02/2011)
If you clean guns, you need a one piece Dewey rod. It is nothing like it. I find myself reaching for it to clean shotguns and muzzleloaders that I have rods for because I like it so much.
Only cleaning rods I'll buy(08/08/2017)
I love these cleaning rods because along with being of top notch build quality, they are constructed of materials that guarantee your firearm's bore will absolutely not be damaged as everything these rods are made out of is significantly softer than the common grades of steel used for rifle barrels. I use these cleaning rods religiously and they have never let me down.
Excellent construction(17/10/2009)
The complete cleaning rod. Truly well constucted and comfortable to use. It cleans quickly without harming your barrel.
Best cleaning rods(01/08/2011)
I clean my benchrest guns hundreds of times during a shooting season and the Dewey rods have the only coatings that stand up to that kind of use. I've used 4 or 5 other brands of high-end cleaning rods and keep coming back to the Dewey's because they just keep working. The other brands might have better bearings in the handles and softer grips, but none of that matters if the rod coating is softened by your cleaning chemicals and transformed into a sandpaper reamer in your expensive barrels
Dewey rods are great!(18/11/2011)
I was at first hesitant to spend [$] on a cleaning rod, but after using it for a while, I've found it to be WELL worth the money. Is it needed for the once a year hunter? Probably not, but if you value your firearms, I think you owe it to yourself to get a good one-piece rod along with a bore guide. The only negative I can find is that if you lose the adapter, you can only use Dewey jags, but it's not a big deal in my mind. Depending on your space, the length could be a problem, but it's not a huge deal.
Almost a whole new method...(12/07/2013)
I've always used steel rods, otis wires, and bore snakes. Having a coated, solid piece rod that can't damage the bore is invaluable. This, with Dewey brushes, jags, and bore guide make the best bench kit for the serious shooter. Especially when care must be taken not to damage the bore, like precision shooting.
One finely engineered cleaning rod(07/11/2009)
I am a part-time Gunsmith who cleans several hundred rifles a year. Dewey coated rods are number one for heavy cleaning chores, with no worries of bore scratches I've seen with other non-coated systems. The fact that they include their superb jags with these caliber specific rods is an added bonus. I can't find one single fault with the construction or durability of these rods, and will be ordering one in each caliber. Thanks for a great product!
Excellent and long wearing(18/11/2009)
We have used several Dewey coated in rods in our shop for many years. Although the coating is burnished it has not torn or chipped.
Dewey 30-C-36 Cleaning Rod - Excellent!(08/01/2010)
The Dewey rod is probably the best on the market. I use my Dewey rods for cleaning numerous rifles and never have to worry about bore damage. The revolving handle really works. It actually rotates with the rifling and can be used to measure the twist rate of the bore. My Dewey rods have stood up to many years of cleaning competitive rifles and have sustained long periods of heavy use with no sign of wearing out. The nylon covering is very tough and I have yet to wear or tear a hole in it. I simply do not see a fault or downside to the Dewey Rod.
Too tight for 7mm Mag(07/08/2010)
The rod is very nice but the jag is way too tight for a 7mm Mag. I would recommend buying the smaller caliber jag for the 7mm Mag. Be nice if they offered this thicker rod with the smaller jag.
Dewey makes the best rods.(24/10/2010)
Just wanted to take a moment and comment on the Dewey rods. I have used them for 20 years. I have 5 and they are so good I would never consider using any other brand. The heads are fluid and move precisely as you clean your barrels. The coating is smooth and long wearing. (Note: Just don't lose the rod end adapters if you use standard brushes or jags because the rods are useless without them. Fortunately, Brownell's and Sinclair has replacement Dewey rod end adapters, whew!)

best rod period.(24/12/2011)
skip the vinyl coated safe-t clad rods, this rod is hands down, the best. The nylon coating on the Dewey rods do not get soft and it doesn't wear off.
Great Cleaning Rod(29/05/2011)
I have been using this rod for years to clean 38SP, 40 S$W, 45 ACP, and 45 LC barrels, from 2" to 7.5". I also use the Dewey rifle length rods for .22 RF, 30-30 Win, and .270 WIN. I also use it to clean cylinders on my revolvers. They don't scratch the bore or crown like some other materials due to the coating. They don't bend or buckle like weaker materials.
I love the handle size and design with the rod floating on ball bearings. They rotate easily with the rifling for proper cleaning.
Due to the male threads, you need some adapters if you use attachments from other mfg, unless they make them to fit Dewey rods. Some might see this as a negative, however, I don't since the products made for the Dewey rods I've used are all of excellent quality.
Top Notch(04/10/2009)
The Dewey rods are of excellent quality. The bearings in the handle are very smooth and allow it to spin in the rifling as you push the jag or brush through no matter how much force you are applying to it. The coating is very good too. Each rod comes with a jag and an adapter for standard threaded brushes or you can buy the Dewey threaded brushes here from Brownells which is what I would suggest as they are better than the brushes you usually find for sale on the shelves in other stores. I own two of these and would not hesitate to buy another.
Great product now own several(02/01/2010)
This is one of the best gun cleaning rods on the market. I am a professional gunsmith and its the only rod I use I have several sizes and you couldnt talk me into using a diffrent product!
Simply The best(09/04/2010)
I have now replaced all my brand P cleaning rods with the Dewey coated rods. I clean 25- 40 weapons per month on average, and the Dewey rods offer long lasting durability and value for the price. I have no complaints with any Dewy products, as they have and will I'm sure continue to serve for decades of shop use.
Works Great(22/10/2012)
Works great for cleaning Rock River LAR-15s
Best rod(25/06/2016)
I started out with two of these rods for my 22, 556, and 243 caliber rifles. Liked them so much, I bought a pistol rod, and will probably buy more.
What I like the most about these rods is that they are fairly stiff for cleaning a small bore gun that may be very dirty from lots of use. I also like the coating that protects the bore. What I think really makes these rods shine is how easily the rod and handle rotate as the rod is pushed through the bore. VERY smooth and MUCH better in this regard than Tipton (I own one in 17 cal). Tipton makes a good rod but Dewey is better.
Everything should be this good.(28/11/2017)
Absolutely the best rod I've ever used. Never want another brand again. Getting a longer 30 cal one now. Some things just work well and this is one of them. I like that they come with a jag and an adapter for other brushes too. Very smooth operation. Never feel like you're damaging the barrel or scratching anything. Coating seems durable and thick. Threads meet up nicely on the tip also. Unlike bargain 3-4 piece rods.
The best cleaning rods(22/09/2018)
Dewey cleaning rods are the best! I like that they are plastic coated and easy to wipe off debris, you donât have to worry about scratching the bore of your rifle. Also they are rigid enough to push patches or brushes thorough the rifle bore without bending.
Deweyâs customer service is #1! I had water enter the handle of one of my cleaning rod which caused the ball bearings to rust. Dewey sent me replacement bearings plus a few extras at not cost. I highly recommend!
Dewey has a strange product line in .22(07/06/2015)
I bought this cleaning rod for my Ruger MK III and it works fine. I use the VFG felt pad system, and I believe it is better for the barrel than standard tools (bronze brushes, etc.). So, I have this rod and a VFG "adapter/jag" that goes with it. Now comes along my father's Winchester Model 62A, also a .22 caliber weapon. So, I go to buy a 36" Dewey cleaning rod, figuring I'd use the same VFG adapter, but the .22 caliber Dewey rod is too big for a .22 caliber rimfire rifle (the Dewey website states this). So now I have to buy a different brand of rod or a .17 caliber Dewey rod. Either way, if I'm going to use VFG in my rifle, I have to buy a new adapter for it since the VFG adapter that fits the Dewey will not fit the .17 caliber Dewey rod or any other brand of rod. So I bought a Bore Tech rod and VFG adapter for that, but if I'd have known, I would have bought that rod in the first place. So, though the Dewey rod is constructed well, I am grading the rod low because of the compatibility issue. Why would Dewey make a .22 caliber cleaning rod incompatible with .22 caliber weapons? Very frustrating.
Bought for SBR uppers!(31/01/2016)
I purchased this awhile back for a shorter one piece rod to clean SBR uppers. It saves a lot of time from assembling and disassembling the old 3 piece rod. I find the coating helps also as is easier to wipe fouling and chemicals off of it. I have a 8" 7.5" and this rod goes from muzzle all the way out of the upper receiver. I will purchase this again if it breaks. Excellent buy for stamp collectors with shorter barrels.
Nice one piece cleaning rod (07/09/2017)
A nice one piece cleaning rod with a rotating handle. 12" length is excellent for pistols.
Dewey(07/11/2009)
The only cleaning rod I will use. Everything else is junk.
Dewey(07/11/2009)
Absolutely the best. I'm very pleased with all 3 that I own.
