Does your tube hold more than four?(29/04/2010)
Nice anodized finish. The diameter seems juuuust barely smaller than the Vang Comp follower, hard to notice and no I didn't mic it. At first glance, the follower looks good. It is possible the follower works perfectly in a standard tube. I have a two shot extension (870 Tactical) and had problems right away. The follower locks up once it hits the extension tube seam. At first I thought it was the virtual lack of a beveled edge on the back side of the follower. After I filed in an edge on the back I thought I was good. Nope. In my opinion, I believe the problem to be the two slotted sections on the sides. After I filed down the edges on the slots, front and back, it now appears that the follower works without issue.
Cliffs: If you have an extension tube, you WILL have to file down the edges on the follower. Enjoy.
Excellent part and service.(15/06/2012)
I use this with an add on 2 shell tube. Drilled and dremelled the the two dimples. It worked fine with original cheap REM part. Upgraded to this part, as I now have 7 in tube for training- 3 gun competition. It measured the same as origial factory, and no hang ups.I have had this gun for 6 years, and have had issues previously. Now its all good! A MUST upgrade, and found Brownells the best value/quality.
perfect drop in upgrade(30/12/2013)
Great tough follower! It fit in my 870 perfectly and feeds perfectly!
Perfect(08/01/2014)
Fit in the mag tube perfectly, functions just as it should. I feel better now that I got rid of that crummy plastic follower Remington puts in there.
Worthwhile Upgrade!(16/09/2015)
This is way better than that plastic garbage that they put in the mag from the factory, its got good build quality and nice finish, and its slightly smoother when feeding rounds into the mag.
Does not work for 20g standard(18/08/2016)
Most parts are interchangable between the 12g and original (standard 20g) 1100s. However, this part does not work in the standard 20g.
Seems like a great product but will have to send it back.
Do you have a tube extension?(29/04/2010)

Plastic is better(20/02/2011)
Too thick-walled to be poperly supported by magazine spring. The spring bears on the edge canting the follower and causing it to snag where the magazine extension starts. Might work with a tapered magazine spring.
Feeds Well So Far.....(20/09/2013)
Just got this today with a number of other upgrades. This was the first to install. Grooved slides allowed quick and easy install over my 870 Tactical 6-shell magazine. Didn't need a dremel to smooth out the dimples. Paired it up with a Nordic components spring cut to 25 inch length. Good resistance so far when loading 4 dummy rounds into the magazine and has smooth feeding. Can't give five stars yet since I haven't tested with a full magazine yet.....but so far so good
Better than stock(01/12/2013)
After adding a much larger magazine spring to my 12 gauge, 870 I decided the factory, plastic follower was too wimpy to handle the increased spring tension. Simple drop-in upgrade for my 870, which included the 'dimples' in the mag tube. You can see the slots in the follower which allow it to drop cleanly in the tube with zero modifications required. Functions flawlessly with all of my function testing.
Nooooo - don't buy this - read below(28/02/2014)
The aluminum eventually wore inside the magazine tube from some thousands of rounds pushing against it. When removed from the tube, there were visible burrs on the convex edges and eventually this impeded its function. I've gone with the stainless steel version, you should too.
Will snag inside your magazine tube(01/03/2014)
The aluminum will burr and eventually snag and turn just the slightest of angles (1-2 degrees) inside your tube, causing the next shell to not release into your chamber.
nice made, crisp chanfers very nicley mad(02/11/2009)
its made to see when your at your last shell,i like it because its ssteal
Get one!(05/02/2010)
If you need a follower, this is it. A bit heavy from the stainless steel, but there won't be any wear issues. It works with dimpled magazine tubes, also.
Robust(07/02/2010)
This is a great follower. A little heavy, but it won't wear out. It also works with dimpled magazine tubes.
Very nice replacement upgrade(18/03/2010)
This follower is machined very well. Does very nice in my 870 Wing master. Although had some problems feeding in the 5th round in my 870 Tactical 6 round magazine. The sharp edge on the back of the follower was catching on something in the area of the magazine coupling. If you have that problem, have some gunsmith angle off the back edge to ensure it will slide through that area with ease. Had mine professionally machined real nice and totally cured problem. Still a superb part.
Every Shotgun Should Have One!(01/04/2010)
So I was looking for a follower for my Benelli Nova and because 870 parts are so easy to find, I thought I'd see if the follower would function in my Benelli and worst case scenario, it doesn't work and I use it in my 870. Well, it works great and I'm probably going to order another for my Remington. I installed it with a Wilson Combat replacement spring, loaded the shotgun and cycled all 7 of the shells out of the magazine tube probably ten times without any failures to feed. I had a problem with my Benelli's spring and follower not feeding properly the previous week when I went shooting and that kind of thing can make the difference between life and death when you use it for home defense. I don't have to worry about that anymore. Don't trust plastic factory followers when your life is on the line, buy one of these for your weapon.
True value for the money(09/08/2010)
The follower is very easy to install and use after the dimple is removed from the 870 "Express Super Magnum" factory magazine tube. I have recommeded it to my friends already, and now they use it.
Fixing Remingtons Mistake(18/12/2010)
I replaced my replacement Reminton shell follower as both the original and replacement part from Remington were both causing the shells not feed properly. I used the Remington 11-87 today and did not have any malfunctions. Quite an improvement. No more feeding problems. Great product. Must have for Remington users that want reliability.
Quality Follower(24/11/2011)
This is a very high quality follower. It weighs substantially more than the plastic follower that came with the shotgun thus ensuring a much smoother feed. Installation was about as simple as one could imagine.
Note to Canadian customers; if you have a pinned magazine tub then this follower will be a waste of money. You won't be able to get the existing follower out nor get this one in.
High quality piece, BUT....(17/12/2011)
Very high quality and will improve the function of your shotgun for sure, BUT in my case it effectively reduces the magazine capacity of my 11-87 deer gun from 4 shells to 3 shells, kinda of a bummer as that is the exact reason I was wanting to replace the Scattergun Technologies follower I had in it as it was difficult to load the 4th shell with that follower installed. I cannot remember the last time I actually fired 5 shots at game without reloading so it is not a giant issue to me wich is why I gave it 3 stars, it honestly deserves 5.
A great upgrade for the Rem 870(16/06/2012)
This follower should be in every Remington 870 and any other shotgun it will fit. I just will never understand why Remington put that plastic follower in these guns, they do hang up, at least mine did twice. I went over all the edges with finishing paper as used for auto body repair. The follower free falls through my magazine by it's own weight. Just a great item. The face, what you see when the magazine is empty, has been painted safety orange. If you own an 870 etc you NEED this follower. Forget plastic.
great craftsmenship(27/09/2012)
took the junky plastic one out that I had to rig for years, and ultimately was teh fail on my gun, this piece slipped right in and looks great and functions wonderful. Thanks
Should be orginial equipment(23/01/2013)
Fixed the problems caused by plastic original. No more sticking, especially when dirt and grit manage to get into the magazine tube in the field. Doesn't become sticky from lubricant residue, even in freezing temperatures.
Great Inexpensive Upgrade(13/04/2013)
Upgrading my 870 Home Defense, been told that this was the first thing I should have bought. Now that I have it, I Agree 100 percent. Simple to install, works perfectly. Have found no draw backs, or faults. And the Shipping was Fast!
Mine would snag on last part of travel(16/04/2013)
In my 11-87 the 45 deg. chamfer on outer-most edge of the follower seemed to not be complete (had a little burr) and would catch on the last 3/8 inch (approx) of travel. If I moved it with my finger it would then click and move the last 3/8 inch. I don't know if this would affect the feed on the last shell, but I didn't want to take a chance so I used a fine file and emery paper to knock it off, and now it doesn't catch.
Don't use this in an 11-87!!!(30/03/2014)
I installed these in all my Remington shotguns. It works fine in the 870 pumps. After firing 2 1/2 boxes of target loads in the 11-87, the follower beat a burr into the receiver and it was no longer possible to load a shell into the magazine or feed one from the magazine. It took a trip to the gunsmith to get this figured out and repaired.
The 11-87 receiver has a structure machined into it that the 870 does not and the magazine follower impacts against that structure, which is where the burr appeared. The original plastic follower causes no problem doing this, but the stainless follower is hard enough that it actually damaged the 11-87 receiver.
So- great for 870, avoid for 11-87.
Received in Rough Machined Condition(26/04/2016)
Does not decrease magazine capacity, but not the quality of finish I expected at this price. Slot edges and corners were sharp enough to cut your finger. Filed them down. OD had turning marks probably equivalent to about a 1000 finish, but the sharp peaks of the turning marks would have eventually ground off the finish from ID of the magazine tube. Polished off OD with 400 then 600 grit SiC wet-dry paper. All of the OD issues could have been corrected if the machine shop had just done a tumble deburr (run overnight before shipping). ID of the slots had protruding burrs. Don't know if the burrs would have damaged the magazine spring, but that's just not right. Cleaned up with rotary tool and deburrer. ID burrs indicate a worn out mill cutter and/or a soft stainless steel alloy. However, soft stainless alloys are also the most corrosion resistant. Disappointed, because it still needed a lot of hand work for what should have been a drop-in part.
