Bear to install!(25/05/2011)
Many Mini-30's have less than 100% reliability when shooting wolf 7.62x39mm ammo due to light firing pin strikes on the primer. This spring is supposed to fix that problem by providing more umph when you pull the trigger. Here's the only rub: this spring is a bear to install! You might want to buy more than one because you're likely to send this item across your garage at least once while trying to install it! It's not that there's a flaw in either the Ruger or Wolff parts... it's just the nature of the beast in installing an extra-power spring into an already compressed area. Wear eye protection when installing this spring! Once installed, take a deep breath and drink a lemonade (or other beverage of your choice) to settle your nerves... and then (if necessary) go apologize to all of the neighbors for all of the profanity they had to endure while you worked on this project. I'd give it five stars for design and price and everything, but I just have to take away one star for difficulty of installation. Note: This modification does make your trigger pull slightly heavier.
Good Deal!(14/09/2017)
Installed this spring in Mini 30 to be able to shoot cheaper metal cased ammo. Pretty straight forward install, used my drill press to hold and compress spring. Shot Herter's and Tulammo steel case and PMC and Arsenal brass ammo without one miss feed or miss fire. Just what I was looking for! And for less that $10. Quite happy with outcome. Now smooth up trigger and will have one heck of a rifle!!
Easy install tip(07/10/2017)
If you don't have a press or vice, I just used an adjustable clamp wrench and placed it in the gap of two blocks ( or whatever hard surface you can find with a gap to fit the spring pin) and put a little body weight into it. Took 30 seconds and was super safe.
Replacement on a Police Surplus Rifle(04/01/2014)
I Purchased this spring because my GB Police Surplus Mini 14 was having issues loading rounds into the Chamber and was not Completely Closing the Chamber. I suspected it was because of the thousands of rounds this gun has fired.
When I pulled out my old spring, I found that this spring was almost 2+ inches longer (due to wear on the old spring). Since installation I have had ZERO instances of a failure to chamber. Excellent Product
