This is a GOOD product(28/05/2010)
I had to do a little fitting (I expected that) and I love it!
waste of money(03/07/2012)
No matter how much trimming and filling I did this thing would not fit well on my USGI stock. Ended up in the garbage.
Ruger Mini-14 Pad Does Not Fit Model 580(21/07/2010)
It was a very nice looking pad, but it does not fit my Ruger Mini 14 Model 580 Ranch Rifle.
10-22 and model 96 recoil pad(20/08/2010)
I have had one of these on my 10-22 for a few years, i recently purchased a Model 96 in 44mag, the fit up on both guns is excelent, especially for a long armed person like me.
Adds Length of Pull(19/10/2011)
Dense rubber does add in some recoil absorption. I bought this pad to increase my length of pull and to remove the uncomfortable factory hard plastic plate. The pad gives good grip to the shoulder without being overly gripping and grabbing clothing during carry. The pad is oversized for the 10/22, and will need to be ground down on the sides to fit flush. I like the extra material, so I did not do this step. Otherwise the pad is fitted very well to the 10/22 and attaches securely.
It fit my needs perfectly. But I gave 4 stars for the possible trimming some will want to do.
It's an extention, not a true recoil pad(23/01/2012)
This was installed on a Ruger 99/44 Deerfield .44 Mag carbine.
Let's get right to the biggest wart about this product... as others have said, it is NOT a soft recoil dampening pad like a Pachmayr, it is hard rubber with hardly (if any) any give.
It does a great job in adding length to the "shorty" Ruger carbine stocks, but it should be called/listed as a stock extension instead, and lose the "cushioned, recoil absorbing" claim from the product description.
Tip for installation, attach the top "leg" first, get it aligned with the screw hole and tighten down the screw.
Then you can pull and stretch the pad around and down the back of the stock to get the bottom screw to line up with the existing hole. If you do the bottom first, getting the top leg to fit properly is too difficult.
The pad is a bit oversize and extends between 1/32 - 1/16" from the rest of the stock... others have chosen to leave it that way, I'm going to go through the exercise of fitting like any other after market pad.
Nonsense(27/08/2014)
This doesn't come anywhere close to actually fitting a Mini 30. Not even close. I can't understand how it would be difficult to make a pad that fit. Absolutely silly nonsense.
Old-school Solution, Rather 50% Of One(29/07/2018)
This is one of the original slip-on recoil pad designs. Note that it ONLY works with the flat-back CAR stock, not the angled "LE" style stock. That being said, it will generally slide right on and over. What this will NOT do is stay on properly. You'll want to route a ziptie through the sling loop and the middle of the stock to hold the pad on securely, or use copious amounts of adhesive.
If you want to add length of pull or tame the limb-destroying 'recoil' of a 5.56mm cartridge, this is a decent choice. I think a better stock would be my first upgrade, but for a 'retro' USASOC SMU build these are essential.
let down(13/08/2009)
stock screws pull through the pad ,too bad as is a good alt. for ar15 build project ,hope they can remedy problem
Worst product ever bought(28/08/2009)
Absolutely the worst product I have ever bought from Brownells. Top screw pulls through the rubber without ever tightening the buttstock to rifle. If sent to me free, I would not accept it given what I know now. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
Masen recoil pad(13/07/2010)
Same as everyone else top screw pulls through pad and it doesn't secure the A2 stock to the rifle. absolute junk, I wouldn't put it on an airsoft rifle.
Do not buy(06/12/2010)
Wish I had read the reviews before purchasing. Does not add .75 inches to stock, it is .75 thick, but the stock buttplate is .5 inches. So it would only add .25 inches. Also, as noted by other reviewers the screws pull through when tightened. Junk!
Very flawed design(14/02/2012)
Beware that the only thing holding your stock to the receiver will be this rubber butt pad. My customer bought this from me for his AR and after proper tightening the stock began twisting and this butt pad FELL OFF the rifle which in turn destroyed the rear take-down detent spring. Upon inspection the was a small, thin washer molded into the rubber that pulled out of the butt pad. I wouldn't trust this in the field or on the range.
JUNK PURE JUNK(19/03/2012)
Cant tighten this down because the screws pull through the rubber pad. This is junk! Dont waste your time or money.
