The Extended 12 gauge guide has an extra 5" of length and is used for semi-auto and pump gun barrels with long extensions.

Brownells USA 870 users buy the extended guide! 21/12/2012

this short bore guide will not work for Remington 870 barrels if you are cleaning the proper way: from breech to muzzle. The extended lip of the barrel will not facilitate the size of the bore guide. The extended model will work.
