Works great on both steel and cast iron without dangerous fumes; does not cause hydrogen embrittlement. pH neutral solution won't eat your clothing or bench. Does not attack softer metals like brass, copper, zinc or aluminum so there's no need to remove inlays, sight beads or solder-on ribs before immersion. Highly concentrated liquid really saves money. One gallon of Brownells Steel White can be diluted with water to make up to 20 gallons of safe, economical, rust and blue removing solution. Removes light rust and bluing in as little as 5 minutes; immerse in solution longer for heavier rust or scale. Works great at room temperature but can be heated to 120° F. to increase speed of rust removal. Per instructions use 5 to 1 ratio for heavy rust.

Definitely recommended

Brownells USA great stuff very impressed 06/06/2013

used to redo 3 single shots shotguns and a semi auto shotgun they were sitting in a closet for years mixed the solution a lil strong as soon as placed them in the bath the blueing started to vanish along with the rust

Not recommended

Brownells USA Waste of money 20/07/2012

Mixed according to directions at 5 to one. Tried to use it on a thoroughly degreased 1911 slide and S&W revolver. Neither had much rust, just wanted to remove the blue prior to polishing. After 1 hour no discernible effect. Dumped mixture and Re mixed at a measured 5 to one and tried again. By the second hour there was some slight progress but not much. Threw it out and polished by hand.
