VFG WEAPONS CARE SYSTEM PELLETS

Use Kroil , been using it for over 20 years , apply Kroil to pellet and swab bore slowly . The pellet fit allows full coverage no gaps . Let set for a bit then apply J-b compound , learned to use that from my Dad , use another Kroil soaked pellet to clean then use other dry pellets til clean . If you just use brush and patch process you will be surprised how much gunk the pellet will show . My friend cleaned his gun then I used this process he couldn't believe how dirty the pellet was , he now uses the same process , he is a mechanic and uses Kroil and didn't know how well it cleans bores til now .

I frequently finish with these and JB if i want a barrel absolutely perfect! Pullcord only no rods.

Yes, they are 9.3mm which on the large side but if you setup it up correctly they can be used as easily as any other size. I'll try my best to explain it in the limited space of this review. First, do not use the adapter on this same page as the felts (Brownell's part number 929-110-607WB). The threads are too large which causes the felt to ballon out and retain much more structural density. Instead use one of the adapters located on the BROWNELLS - VFG THREE PELLET ADAPTER page such as part number 084-000-020WB. Second, once you have started threading the felt on hold it tightly and pull away from the adapter as you thread it on. This causes the felt to slightly elongate which also slightly decreases the diameter of the felt. The felt may also be slightly cone shaped (or slightly angled) being larger on the potion you started threading and decreasing very slightly as you pull and thread. If done correctly, you will only be able to get two felts on this three felt adapter. You will either not have any thread left after you place your two felts on or very little. Be careful holding and pulling the felt as you install it as the super intensive felts do have brass bristles in them. You can use a pair of curved jaw pliers to help. Lastly, use a regular cleaning rod and push the felts through, going only from the breech to the muzzle. Trying to go in both directions or using a cable which pulls them have a tendency to get the felt stuck trying to go back in especially from the muzzle end (remember the "cone shape" I spoke about? Well pulling or going the other way you encounter the larger end of the felt). I hope you find my explanation both clear and useful. You don't have to avoid this great product or feel the need to trim the felt.

I'm sold on the VFG cleaning pellets, and this adapter makes short work of cleaning your bore by holding TWO pellets securely to your .22 cleaning rod. I stroke 5 times with two pellets soaked with Kroil and, occasionally JB Bore Cleaner. The deep cleaning pellets will really get the bore shiny!



This adapter isn't made of brass, but don't let that stop you. The adapter is definitely softer than your barrel, and can't touch it with pellets attached.



One note: The .22 pellets (maybe others) can be hard to send down the barrel if you install two and really tighten the nut. Just spin the nut on a turn or two -- the pellets stay on fine and won't compress too much.

These are great and work really fast to clean the bore. If you love to spend hours cleaning your gun, then don't buy these

I have a size for each of my calibers that I shoot. Rather I use them with Kroil, JB paste/compound, or froglube these pellets do the trick. It has really cut down my cleaning time.

...why isn't it made of brass? see that knurled nut that holds the pellets in place? it's going straight into your bore if you're not careful.



The pellet holders for the Dewey-brand cleaning rods are made of brass.

I only shoot .22 LR. Since I started using the pellets I will never again use a cleaning rod or take a chance on damaging my barrel with a rod. The pellets on a string do a perfect job.

Used these to scrub with JB Bore compound and then followed with JB Bore Bright on the three pellet adapter (only used two pellets on it). It was fantastic the fit of the felt pellets was snug, which allowed the JB products to clean the bore extremely well. I don't think I ever have gotten the bore so clean. It shined like never before removing lead or wading that the brush left behind. These pellets also would be good for applying other solvents and scrubbing with them with less mess and a better fit than patches or mops.
I would get the three pellet adapter because it allows one to secure more than one pellet vs one that slides off on the reverse stroke.

ONE OF YOUR REPS RECOMMENDED THESE WHILE I WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING ELSE. SO, I TRIED THEM AFTER I HAD CLEANED A RIFLE MY USUAL WAY. AND, TO MY SURPRISE, I SAW COPPER FLAKES ON THE FELT PAD AFTER I PUSHED IT THRU THE BORE! PRETTY WELL PROVED TO ME THAT THIS SYSTEM WORKS BETTER THAN THE ELBOW GREASE, SOLVENT AND POLISH THAT I HAD BEEN USING BEFORE. RIFLE SHOT BETTER THAN EVER, TOO.

The product itself is great with Kroil and JB Bore paste for older bores in need of a good cleaning but… my order of Koil and JB, pellets, and pellet adapter was placed in a box 4 times the size needed to ship and still loose in the box when received. I'd called about the price of shipping prior to order thinking it was a bit high for a small order but was told this size was needed to ship.
The final irritation was with the pricey imported German .338 to 8mm "Super Intensive Pellets" advertised and billed as a package of 50 but only containing 38 when received. After looking closer at the actual manufacturer's label on the box; I should have clicked on Brownells item picture to enlarge, I read a count of "approx. 40 pcs."
Initial call about shipping took 45 minutes; similar to insurance company customer service, two subsequent calls after receipt of order only resulted in busy signals and an unreturned message.
Brownells obviously is very busy but they won't be needing any more of my little bit of business.

I'm trying to use this adapter to restore the bore on a .308 semi-auto rifle, thus the cleaning rod has to be inserted from the muzzle. The adapter is just long enough to get 2 VFG pellets on, but without the retaining nut. One with the retaining nut. Of course, without the nut the pellets come off in the bore making things tedious.

This is my second time purchasing this product. I give the product 5 stars for functionality, but only one star because this is the second time I have bought these and paid for 50 or 80 and have been shorted. The first time I bought the 30 cal 50/pk and only received 35 in the box. I called and got the right amount, this time I bought the 22 cal 80/pk and only got 74. Not going to call again, just not going to ever purchase these again, they have a problem with quality control apparently and for this to happen 2 times in a row tells me I need to take my business elsewhere.

can not get it to fit in AR15 barell.Also does not fit well on Dewey cleaning rod.

Used 929-110-607WB adapter on 8-32 tpi cleaning rod typically available from sporting good stores. Cut one of the pellets into two & placed it on adapter along with a whole pellet to completely "fill" the threaded area of the adapter. THESE PELLETS WORK GREAT WITH J-B® NON-EMBEDDING BORE CLEANING COMPOUND & KANO KROIL. I will buy these again & DO recommend them to others.

Great idea,but the pellets are really to large for the .22 rimfire. Threads are made to fit a Dewey cleaning rod male 8x36 thread not standard 8x32 female. If you want to adapt to stardard rod, you will need adapator 22A from Dewey. Then you still will not have a flush fit between your rod and adaptors. Even with a snug bore guide you could end up damaging the barrel.

This is the best system I have come across. In my own tests the VFG felt pads get more dirt, coppers and powder soot out of my rifles than any other system on the market. Once you try these you will not go back to your old cleaning system.

Worked great in my muzzleloader but....had to trim the leading edge alittle to get it in the barrel but no big deal. Well worth the little bit of effort

Thes litte pellets are the easiest, most effective cleaning dohickey ever invented. A couple of the "super intensive" pellets soaked in Croil followed by these using the bore cleaner of your choice, will result in a bore that looks factory fresh. I use them in my 5.56 NATO rifle and they work beautifully.

their shotgun pellets also woke great. Buy them!!!

The "9mm" pellets are actually labeled as 9,3 from the mfg in Germany and are VERY tight when started into a .357 and 9mm chamber. After beveling the leading edge of the felt button(s) with scissors to mimic the shape of FMJ round nose bullets, they pull into and through my chambers and bores using a Patchworm flexible nylon rod with what feels like ideal pressure. This was the case with both wet Super Intensive 9,3 mm felt pellets and dry plain 9,3 mm felt pellets. I have not brushed a bore in years!

Just tried to use it on a AR15 and could not push it through. The second "threaded on" pellet expands too large to fit the bore. The first pellet goes through fine by itself.

The plain felt and super intensive felt pellets are great for using Brownell's lapping and polishing compounds to lap and polish your bores to increase accuracy. This also removes nicks and burrs from machining and makes cleaning a breeze. The lapping and polishing process removes the pores and nicks that the carbon and copper deposit themselves into. Sized to fit they make the grind of cleaning a much easier task.

[...] thought they might work well with JB Bore Bright. Shot 50 lapping bullets in a .223. Then tried these felt cleaners. Better than a jag..... these give a snug, tight fit and the bore shines. Wonderful !!!

You don't need a cleaning rod. Take about 1 yard of weed wacker line and melt the end to form a sphere. A blowtorch works seems to work best, but don't breathe the fumes. Then simply thread one or more of the felts onto the line and feed it through the barrel. You can re-use the felts if you wish. Works great on semi-auto rifles and handguns too.

The best idea in rifle cleaning ever! Just to see, I used a pellet soaked in bore solvent after I finished cleaning my Rem 700 7mm Mag with a brush and regular flannel patches. I was surprised by the amount of additional black residue that was removed. They hug the sharp edges of rifling much closer than any patch. I have found that the pellets greatly reduce my time to clean a barrel. They are also perfect to use with JB Bore Brite. I started out with an order of 50, my next order will be much larger. And for me, the 7mm-270 pellets work great in my 30-06 also.

I use it to polish bores and to clean stubborn fouling out. Also good for Sweet's 7.62 to get the foaming action. I have used it with lapping compound,J.B. bore celaner;as well as Butches bore shine, ole #9 and many others.

I just started using these VFG pellets when I bought a new rifle and wanted to polish the barrel. I purchased the 3 pellet adaptor and use it in a 6.5 creedmoor. The pellets are really simple and much easier to use than a patch. With a spear tipped jag you can only go one direction in the bore of your rifle. These pellets are a really snug fit and stay in place while you scrub the bore with Kroil, J-B bore paste/ bore bright, and Simichrome. This is a great product. I'm going to buy more in other calibers and even a set or two for my buddies who shoot.

These work great with a cleaning rod on my bolt guns, but for those semi autos (rifle or pistol) I string these on "weed whacker" line(use about 1/8" dia) and use them as a "pull through" cleaner. Just cut the line a foot longer than the barrel, heat the tip and push it against a flat surface to make it "mushroom"...thread the felts on the other end and the mushroom holds them.The whacker line is easy to just push down the barrel. Before pulling the felt pellet through, make sure it is lined up straight with the chamber...not cocked or tilted.

I use this technique with bore cleaners. It is also just great with bore polish...just work the polish into the felt and pull it through the bore 5 to 10 times...follow with a cleaning oil or solvent and then dry felts.

This also makes for a handy little field kit when you add small plastic bottle of cleaning oil to a box of the felt pellets and your weed whacker line..

I use both the "intensive" pellets and the plain felt ones...usually one intensive followed by several plain ones to finish the job. I find these work well with any bore polish,Hoppe's #9, EEZOX, KG1, KG2, Break Free, Clenzoil, Ballistol Klever, etc...whatever you like.

Here's a trick I figured out which makes these pellets just great for cleaning semi-auto rifles or pistols when you do not wish to disassemble the barrel from the receiver and you do not wish to risk harming the crown:

Buy some of the line used in weed whackers..about 1/8 inch diameter, cut it so you have about 1' over the barrel length, heat one end 'til it is mushy and push it against a flat surface so that it "mushrooms" a bit...that end will keep the pellet from sliding off. Cut the other end of the line on an angle so it can be pushed through the pellet.

I first "string" one of the "intensive" pellets on the weed whacker line, put a few drops of Clenzoil on it, feed the line through the barrel from the receiver end, grab the line as it comes out of the muzzle, make sure the pellet is lined up to go straight into the chamber, and pull. I am very careful to pull the line straight so that it does not touch the muzzle crown. Next I use the regular felt pellets with Clenzoil or solvent and alternate wet and dry until they come out clean...you just pull the used pellet off the line and thread a new one on...or you can use multiple pellets at one time.

This method also works well in applying Brownell's moly paste or with a new barrel when you wish to polish it with a product such as Montana Bore Polish, or the like.

The weed whacker line is actually easier to use than a bore-snake since you can just leave the rifle lying flat and push the line through it.

Hope you find this of use to you. I have been using these pellets for a few years now in his fashion for both rifles, pistols,and air guns.

This is the cleaning solution that we have been waiting for! Easy to use, no dirty patches all over the place, works great with Kroil/JB!!

I have used several sizes of VFG pellets for a couple of years - love them!!! This size DOES NOT FIT a 9mm barrel (too large). It fits a 40 cal just fine. Brownell's tried to help but unles you use these, you wouldn't understand. The other sizes are fine.

Does not fit in a 357 cal-9mm barrel. Too big. had to fight to get it in half way

Make fast work of cleaning just twist them on and run them down the barrell. You do not have to worry about them falling off of your jag.

This is the greatest invention since sliced bread. These felt patches are so much easier to use than the regular wrap around patches, I'm really surprised more people aren't using them. It significantly cuts down on cleaning time as you don't have to fiddle around wrapping patches on a jag, and because the pellets are bore snug it cleans much more efficiently. All the patch makers should be offering these. In my mind bore patches are now redundant.
