Variable rate springs function correctly with a wider range of loads than fixed rate springs can. Rate increases as spring is compressed; gives greater protection against frame battering, more consistent lockup and improved feeding, while allowing easier manual cycling of the action. Recoil Calibration Pak contains 1 each of seven different springs; 16½ lb., 15 lb., 14 lb., 13 lb., 11 lb., 10 lb. and 9 lb., plus three extra power firing pin springs. Individual Spring Pak contains one variable power recoil spring and one extra power firing pin spring. Factory weight is 16 lb.

Perfect Set For FTF, FTC Etc.(09/07/2013)
I was going for the lightest, smoothest pull around, but forgot that I already had that with the Sig Sauer that I had in my hand. Going lighter weight springs did make for a dry firing dream, but that's when the problems started. Hammer didn't go all the way down. Trigger pulled way too easy. The only thing that was stiff and a pain was the recoil spring, but I would have trouble with a 2 pound one of those.
Just great spring!(27/10/2010)
Well, I purchase this spring to replace my factory 16 lb spring in my STI Troyan 45 ACP. I replace it because I shoot only factory loads 230 gr. Spring works just a perfect, recoil is weaker and double taps are fast. I use this spring with WC shock bufers and they works just great!
Good replacement part(01/11/2013)
This is one of the first upgrades I buy for a government model 1911. I ditch the factory spring and opt for the 18.5 lb. recoil spring to shoot FMJ 230 loads.
Wolff 17.5 lb variable spring(17/02/2013)
Added a full length guide rod and a Wolff 17.5 spring to my Colt Gov Combat Special with great results.
Original is the best way to go.(13/11/2009)
I decided to take my Springfield Loaded 1911 back to a more "traditional" configuration. I scrapped the heavier spring in favor of the Browning specified 16.5 lb spring. In spite of what the "experts" say, it works just fine and I have had no problems with it at all. Wolff quality is excellent as well, and I have since ordered other Wolff springs for other guns as I know they have a reputation for excellent quality products.
Works Great!(10/03/2011)
I bought one for my Remington R1, and I couldn't be happier. It seems to take a little of the edge off the recoil, and functions perfectly with a variety of loads. Great product!
Recoil springs(14/11/2016)
Easy to install Wanted good spring for shooting No problems in shooting 5 different loads .Ordered 2 more springs for spares
Very noteable improvement(06/03/2011)
I installed one of these in a S&W 1911 along with a shock buffer. I use mostly 200 gr LRNFP pushed to target velocities and was wondering if I could get less muzzle flip without battering the gun. This spring did it. I'm running two of these 14# springs in a pair of range 1911's now and love the results. p.s. Added a Wilson Accucomp to one the these 1911's and further reduced felt recoil /flip again!
