Great Grip Set(16/03/2012)
This is my third set. They fit my hand very well. The grip comes with the extended bolt release lever and has an extended magazine button on the grip. Just a good practical target grip.
A Bit Disappointed...(04/06/2012)
They feel great, no doubt, but I was disappointed to find that they really didn't fit my Mark III well. The center seams don't come together and I am left with a 1/16" gap under either my fingers or palm. You expect some amount of warping with a rubber/plastic piece and things my not align precisely, but not being able to fit around the frame is just unacceptable to me. Also, I would like to have had it stated up front that you will need to remove the hammer pin in order to install the (thankfully provided) larger slide lock lever.
Well worth the money(29/06/2012)
Very comfortable even in a long bullseye session. Makes the mkiii an easier to shoot pistol.
Improve my bullseye score, however...(05/04/2013)
I have been shooting Rugers for over 30 years, but because of the factory grips that never agreed with my hand, I never used them for competition. I put the volthane grips, along with the Volquartsen accurzing trigger kit, on a Mark III, and I have now found my new competition gun. Love them. However, as someone else mentioned you will have to pull the hammer pin to install the extended slide release. There are plenty of youtube videos out there to show you how to remove and replace all these parts if you don't know how, so not too big of an issue. My big complaints â the mounting screws are too long and counter sunk into the rubber grips too deap. There is very little rubber left to tighten the screws, and they will/do interfere with the clip.(requires modifying) The worst thing: The sear pin sits in a void cut in the grip. If this pin wiggles out the thickness of the frame, the sear will shift and make the gun a paper weight until corrected (requires modifying or take your chances). Nothing I would care to do at the range. The factory frames actually have a raised area to prevent this pin from moving. I personally like the grips enough to make the modifications, but a bit surprised/disappointed coming from Volquartsen.
Improved handling and groups(26/12/2010)
I first saw these grips on a MKII at local gunshow. The fit and feel was so nice I asked dealer where he got the $100 grips. He told me Brownells had em at under $50.00. I bought a set and installed on MKII, these grips shrunk my groups by 30%+ right off the bat, one or two hand shooting. The fit and feel really made a big difference improving steady/solid handling of my Ruger. If your buying for right handed MKIII better to order 930-000-047 so you get the mag release extenstion. Thanks to VOLQUARTSEN and BROWNELLS.
Great grip wit fit for Bullseye Shooting(26/01/2012)
The grip made a great improvement in my Timed & Rapid fire scores. Grip fits well in my hand and the extended mag release button works perfect. Grip was a little smooth so I added gritty tread pad tape to the fingers, thumb, and heal area of the grip to give it an abrasive feel. The grip now gives me much more control and doesn't slide in my hand.
